Hey Templar!

I’m almost there!

Springfield Armory SAR 4800 Bush Rifle converted to Para configuration using a DSA kit.

Not Templar but… Nice rifle! Thanks for posting it over here. You should hang out more often. There’s plenty of AK lovers around these days.

This is a Great Board and I stop in when I can but my work schedule is kinda demanding and The AK Forum takes up a lot of my free time. I still have to drop in and check on Tim every once in a while though.

That’s good stuff!

Hey Johno …Nice looking Fal ! You will notice when you fire that Para that it has a different "feel " to the action than the regular fullsize Fal 50:00 . Dsa and Springfield [ Imbel ] = Nothing better ! Top of the line !

Nice looking rifle, JOHNO!

Thanks Guys, here’s a few more pics.

a little ot, but johno, is that flectern(sp) jacket the goretex from spg?

No, its the 7.99 one from Centerfire.

Beautiful, JOHNO!

Will the “sand-cuts” remain on your finished project?

Cheers,
Jonathan

Most definately, that was a “Bonus”.

Turned out really well John.

Thanks for your reply, JOHNO!

By the way, does the original Belgian Para sometimes had teh sand-cuts found on L1A1?

You have one beautiful rifle here…and I am not talking about your breathtaking Maadis.

This is a little out of my field of knowledge but I’m not aware of any metric FALs having sand cuts. But, as I’ve stated, its a welcome option on mine.

I think the sand cuts were an option on some metric guns- The Brits definitely developed them during their sand tests int he 1950’s but I think they are one of the things that passed back to metric guns as an option from FN. Anyone have Blake Steven’s book handy to confirm/deny?

I’ve always noticed that the sand cut carriers cause my FAL to close much more abruptly, particularly when cold. (I lube the FAL with graphite grease). I assumed this was simply becaus ethere was less surface area in contact witht he type 3 receiver i have. I wonder if they happen to help extreme cold weather performance too? Seems as though they would…

Thanks Matt!
