I’ve never done this, as I don’t live in California, but my sister does.
She’s trying to move here in Oregon, she has a Glock 17 that’s registered with the state.
Is there anything she needs to do in order to bring it into a state where it doesn’t need to be registered?
Why do people check gun forums, and not use google search for legal documents regarding issues like this? A quick google search will give you Oregon state gun laws, and federal interstate travel laws.
I did search, and didn’t come up with anything regarding actually moving out of state.
To the best of my knowledge, no. My only experience is moving froms states that don’t register to other states that don’t register & I am not a lawyer. I would expect if you are moving from a state that does register to one that doesn’t, changing the driver’s license to the new state would be a pretty good indicator that you don’t live in the old state anymore. Besides, the more screwwed up the registry the better it is for citizens. If the state with the registry wants to assume all guns registered are still in that state. . . . . 
Registries should be expensive and inaccurate a la Canada.
if she goes back to cali, she should probably notify them/re-register.
i don’t see why she’d have a problem going to oregon though.

I would say this reply is harsh to say the least. Have no clue how or why you would fault someone for asking for firearm related advice in a firearm forum, especially this place.
Maybe we are just looking for someone to pick on.

So your at about a 1:3 rate in regards to responses to my posts that don’t regard you, and about a 1:50 rate in regards to responding to any kind of rebuttal or counter argument I may offer. Pretty obvious at this point that I have absolutely nothing worth saying in your eyes Safetyhit. Did you not like something I said regarding an obvious political/social contradiction committed by the “side” you affiliate with at some point, or what?
In regards to my post, your right it was “harsh”, so are the ten plus responses I have got on this forum that say: “A quick use of the search function on this forum will yield xyz results…”, or “there are plenty of threads on that topic.” Do you respond to every post by every person on the forum that states the same thing?
All I was saying was that by using google search he could easily get his hands on Oregon State Gun Laws. I have used it multiple times to look up different state laws, and never had issue.
If your curious I’ve posted in a few other threads today… If you want to respond to those as well.

All I know is that here is a humble, nicely worded thread which is state specific asking for reasonable information about legally transporting firearms. Don’t see the harm there, sorry.
And of course, if you wanted to refer him to google you could have easily done so without making it appear as though his posting the question here was some sort of ridiculous idea. Now acting like I single you out is actually ridiculous, as I would have likely made the same comment in some form to anyone in defense of this gentleman.
Anyhow OP, my simple starting suggestion would be to call your local PD and see if you get a definitive answer. Be cautious because it is not a certainty that every police officer (or even better as for a detective) will know the laws thoroughly. If you do get a solid answer then I would call the neighboring PD and ask again just to literally double check.
If the answers are incomplete or insufficient, I would try other towns until you are certain that you have the correct answer. Should only take a few minutes for each.

If you can’t answer the OPs question then don’t reply, it’s really that simple. Keep the tone the same as you would sitting next to someone. No need for rudeness.

Since your question is not very complicated legally, I suggest you call your local PD and ask them the exact same thing. Maybe ask to speak to the shift supervisor or a detective, as often they have tenure and therefore a degree of extra knowledge.
I would also suggest that you call several neighboring departments just to double and even triple check. Shouldn’t take up much of anyone’s time.
To add to what safety hit said, when I carry concealed from state to state, I contact the state’s attorney general and highway patrol barracks. They are very helpful and will tell you how to legally transport the firearm.
