Huge Arsenal of Military Vehicles Being Auctioned
“Wish you had something in your driveway with a little more … power? Well, now’s your chance. One of the largest collections of military machines in the United States is being auctioned July 11-12 in California. It was curated over the years by the late Jacques Littlefield, who housed the collection at his Military Vehicle Technology Foundation in Portola Valley. After Littlefield’s death in 2009, the collection was acquired by the Collings Foundation, an educational organization whose mission is to preserve the history of military automobiles and aircraft.” http://auctionsamerica.com/events/all-lots.cfm?SaleCode=LC14.
IF I had the money, I wouldnt be able to decide which one to get. Be fore warned, there is a massive amount of WANT on that site.
I just saw in person one of the ferret recon scout cars at an air show the weekend before last. Seriously cool and would love to have one. Very tight quarters though… I can’t imagine trying to use the vehicle in full kit. Still… I want one!
Congrats from the M4C, just don’t do bachelor party night before, I’d imagine your ears might still be ringing the next day:moil:… How exactly does one get tank ammo? Don’t believe I’ve seen that option on any ammo site:no:. Can you reload brass? And if can/do, I bet that’s one hell of a reloading bench…
Yes you can reload the brass, but your talking pound of powder and projectiles. Have a few friends with cannons, 20mm to 105mm and it ain’t cheap even to reload. And for some try a hydraulic press not a bench… It’s a whole new level. Too expensive for me. And I’m just talking about the ammo…
Moose, the guys I know are class 3/7 manufacturers(too tired and a little drunk right now to recall it all, but I’ll give you my best short version). It is a grey area, but when you have the class iii, everything is usually covered. I know it covers sbr’s, suppressors, machine guns, all other weapons(aow), sbs’s, and destructive devices. So take it with a shot of vodka but I think it’s covered.
ETA: to actually answer your question, I think yes.
Thanks, and good call on not the night before. She might get pissed if I don’t hear the “I do” part. He does reload for almost all his other large bore/caliber toys. The tricky part about the Chieftain (that we haven’t figured out yet) is that it uses bagged powder behind the projectile, no actual case.
