Help!

Anybody got a safety switch detent spring they could send me? Just lost that sucker swapping out grips. I didnt break the ears though! Hurray. LOL. Thanks for any help…

i went ahead and ordered a spring kit for it. Cant hurt to have back ups. I am confused about something though. When I removed the stock grip, I swear there was a spring in the hole that the bolt goes into to tighten the grip down!?! Whats that one for? Its an inch exactly?

Ooooops

The spring that you are referring to is actually on the left side at the top of the pistol grip as if you were holding it. That spring mates up to the safety/selector detent pin that is inside the lower receiver. With either of those parts missing your safety/selector will not function properly.

in an emergency strip out a Bic lighter and clip the flint spring to the exact length, install, test and forget, i made the same fumble about a year ago (been looking for that spring ever since then) and the safety works just fine, when building up a lower i chuck up those tiny little detent pins in my lathe and round them and polish them to a mirror like finish, the safety/fire function on my altered detents are very smooth, the rear take down pin and pivot detent pins have always been rough to push out, after my “alteration” they too are very smooth to push out. just a suggestion for making these pins “better”

Thanks. That spring must have flipped out of the safety detent spring hole and into the hole where the screw goes for the grip as I was taking it out. Confused the crap out of me. LOL.

One question though. It seems when I hand tighten the MIAD all the way down the grip is still a little loose. Whats the correct length of that detent spring? Thanks.

the thread length should be one inch (1")

what i do is go to my local Ace Hdwr. store and buy a dozen 1"X1/4-28 Allen head screws they are so much easier to install. do you have access to a 1/4-28 tap ? if so run one into the threads, being very careful not to cross thread the hole, run the tap as far as it will go, there is sometimes a little shard of metal will cause a problem, a little oil would also be useful when you start threading, good luck

Thanks for helping a noob guys. The spring I had was correct, must have jumped holes when I pulled the stock grip off. I tightened the Magpul bolt down nice and tight and the grip fits and works perfectly!!! Now to get this dam little hex screw threaded and all will be well.
