Help with Stock

not sure what kind of stock this is… probably a DPMS because it was on the lower when i bought it. Regardless, after cleaning the other day i held the gun and looked down the sight to clean the open lense on the red dot as i tilted the gun up and down to let the light reveal streaks on the lense i heard what sounds like something sliding up and down in the stock… sounds like its moving about three inches back and forth. didnt know if this was normal or not. any suggestions?

Don’t know if you need to know what stock it is but pic is below… rsz_dscn0493

The “stock” on an AR-15/M-16 is that black part that goes up against your shoulder. Yours has a compartment in it for a cleaning kit, you may want to check inside. For anything else to move 3 inches in your rifle it would have had to have been assembled incorrectly.

Just a guess, but could there be a weight in there rattling around? I’d take off the but plate and take a look.

He shouldn’t have to remove the buttplate.

ok not in the compartment… must be in the spring/ buffer somewhere?

The buffer has a sliding weight, right?

Remove the buffer and spring.
