Help with sling decision (VCAS/VTAC2)

Hey guys,

I cant decide which sling to get. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Viking Tactics MK2 http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Viking-Tactics-Sling-MK2-VTAC-p/viking%20mk2%20sling%20black.htm and the Vickers Combat Applications Sling http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Blue-Force-Gear-Vickers-Combat-Applications-Sling-p/vcas-200-bk.htm

Which do you guys prefer and why?

Secondly I have a question on how to attach it to my DDXV. Obviously I’d run the rear end of the sling through the slot on my MOE stock, but what’s the best way to attach it to the front? Would buying a basic swivel to mount it under the front sight post work well, or should it be mounted to the side of my MOE forearm by some sort of QD attachment?

Here is a picture of my setup for reference…

Thank you guys…

The IWC Mount-N-Slot limited rotation QD sling swivel attachment looks like the best option for the MagPul MOE handguards. I would mount it on the rear-most side slot (closest to the delta ring).

I went with the VCAS padded sling mainly because I didn’t want to have the tag end flapping around when I tightened down on the sling. With the Vickers sling you do not have the tag end flapping around when you adjust the sling. The VTAC you do.

I am using a Mount n Slot Sling Attachment for my MOE handguards. I use a Vickers Padded Sling and a QD mount. The also make another mount you could use with a snap hook like the HK attachment.

The VTAC slings are good to go. I have been using the Vickers for about a year. I tried a VTATC about a month ago and they were just different enough that I sold it because I wanted to keep things the same on each gun.

These are some photos I have of the mount. It is very well made and easy to install.

I agree with Nick. Mine is in the middle slot and gets in the way of my light, I need to move it back. Gotta rake the leaves and mow the lawn one more time first. I need a few more hours of sunlight in each day!

I’ve heard some say that the VTAC will hug up against your chest tighter than the VCAS when the slack is taken up… true?

The dangling sling can become a snag hazard if not careful, especially the 1st gen Vtac slings. The added Velcro sling keeper on the Gen 2s helps, but it doesn’t eliminate the snag hazard altogether. It also has two points of adjustment. It can be awkward to adjust the rear one when slung, when you are moving around and about. I like the sling and own a few, but I also have the padded Blue Force Gear Vcas slings, which have the edge due to no snag hazard, and one set of controls to make a quick and seamless sling adjustment. I find myself using the Vcas slings the most. YMMV.

Vickers Combat Sling. I have 2 & they work.

If you go with the VCAS, I’d recommend going with the metal buckle/ slider model. It is far more rugged. The AA model works great but I have a tenancy to break just about anything.

SOS

VCAS for me as well. Tried usmcvet’s VTAC and I prefer the VCAS.

VCAS is my pick. Simple, comfortable.

There are several models of the VCAS on the BFG site. Which one has the metal buckle? And is there a particular length for a mid-length? I’ve got a VTAC and it is good but the tail is kind of bothersome.

?

I get confused between the two. I think SKD cleared it up. It looks like the AA at $10 cheaper has the plastic buckle.

Is that right?

You got it.

Thanks Sam! The stubby TD is worming great.
