Hey guys, I’ve decided to buy an Aimpoint T1 with a Larue Tactical mount, probably go for either absolute or lower 1/3 co-witness with the Troy BUIS.
The quandary I am suffering from, is I can’t decide between the 2MOA and 4MOA versions.
I blame it on residual effects of getting smoked by a Jetta while on the Harley at 35mph and bouncing my dome off the roof of the car and pavement (so says the police report, no memory off the accident or the following 18 hours)
Basically, what does everyone feel about the two sizes and what the pros and cons are of each? I remember reading about the 4MOA models, or at least some, suffered from the reticle flairing and if the 2MOA version suffers from it as well. Additionally there is the concern if the 2MOA will be too small.
I know, silly and basic question and concern, and I probably shouldn’t be spending money until my lawyer collects from the woman that hit me and her insurance, but what the heck, I’m bummed and a bit of consumer gratification might help should help take my mind off my fractured ankle at least.
Though no expert, I see no reason going with the 2 MOA.unless magnified. I can hit 90 rounds (out of 90) in a 6 inch circle at 100 yards and that is not even trying for any accuracy, just hitting targets. Granted they are not quarter size groups but I figure for 100 yards 6 inch family-rapid-fire, that is sufficient.
There are previous threads on the merits and liabilities of 2 MOA dots, specifically the T1 offering as well as other RDS makes/models. Fill your beverage, hit the search button, and all will be answered. (Try: aimpoint t1 2 moa)
Thanks guys, my initial search for any info resulted in nothing, but I gave it a second go and searched some threads that I initially had ignored as not thinking that they would be relative and got some good info.
I’m going to go with the 2MOA with the absolute co-witness
I think I’m going to complain to the VA when I go back for my next follow up for my ankle, have them check my head, my thinking is definitely slower than before. Damn drunk drivers.
FWIW, I have both a 4 MOA and 2 MOA T1, and i have to admit that I dont really see a big difference. It is noticable, but not all to much to my eyes - I have not run a magnifier on either, so that may make the difference. Seeing is there isnt much of a price difference, i think going with the 2 MOA is a good move, but i dont think you’d be upset with either one
Yea that does make sense. I haven’t taken it out too far yet, its still fairly new to me so I’ll have to try it out at distance to make a better comparison
I did end up going with a brand new 2MOA model with the LT absolute cowitness mount. looks fantastic, just need to get it out to the range and get her zeroed and broken in. The fractured ankle has really held me back on a lot, unfortunately my grandfather, a Korean War vet isn’t doing so well health wise, stage 4 cancer of the lungs, brain, liver and pancreas so I will be flying back to NY to see him and be with the family very soon.
But I fully intend on hitting the range with gusto once I return.
How old are you and how are your eyes? I would get the 2 MOA because the 4 MOA sucks with my eyes, I am 40. I would suggest the 2 MOA because we are all getting older and you will have less issues with the 2 MOA if you develop an astigmatism or the one you may already have gets worth.
