Help selecting New Soft Armor for duty use

These are my options…nothing else. This will be issued not purchased by me. I currently have an older ABA IIIA.

ABA Xtreme HP01, ABA Xtreme XT01 and the Second Chance Summit SM01

What are your thoughts/opinions on these models? I just received the info today so i’m just starting my research.

thanks for the help!

I’m leaning the Second Chance in III-A. If I have this correct Second Chance is no longer the old Second Chance but Safariland with the Second Chance label…??!

The second chance was the only one of the three where I read woven aramids. I’ve read the Soft Armor sticky, but i can’t choose from any of those…so…

Anybody…?

Safariland’s Second Chance® Summit™ Series builds upon the flexible, wearable ballistic technology found in all legacy Second Chance armor designs. NIJ Standard-0101.06 approved, armor models under the Summit Series are hybrid engineered with Teijin® Twaron® aramids, Core Matrix® technology and Honeywell’s patented Gold RS®. Available in threat Types IIA, II and IIIA, respectively, each Summit Series model offers balanced performance, while optimizing flexibility and comfort for daily wear.

NIJ Standard-0101.06 approved
Optimum flexibility utilizing state-of-the-art ballistic materials
Trusted comfort legacy armor designs
Increased trauma protection with combination advanced technologies and armor materials
Hybrid armor design utilizing high-performance uni-directional polyethylenes and woven aramids

Note that the manufacturer propaganda info you posted above never mentions a “woven” aramid, just aramid…this might be a big difference.

This was also in the description…I must have copied it wrong.

I realize these aren’t the best choices…but its all I have. If you had to choose what would you go with?

thank you!

I went to both the ABA and SC websites–lots of mention of Twaron micolaminate and other PE materials, but not much discussion of woven aramids. Note that even though ABA and SC are “different” companies, most of the BAE armor packages seem to be very similar. None of your options are among my favorite, but all should work. The Summit seems to offer a bit better numbers. Which one fits and is most comfortable for you?

I figured they were about the same. We will have one day coming soon where we get to try all 3 models on…i will make my final decision then.

I appreciate the help!
