Probably never shoot past a 100 yards.unless I join a range other then the one I belong to now.
Power wise I want to be able to see the bullet holes in the target at 100 yards
Also not sure of what recital to choose best for that distance.prefer something that will let me shoot tight groups if I can. Also not sure about the lens size 40mm or 50mm
Hers’s a few ideas using the the new Leupold Mark 6 riflescopes.
Mark 6 1-6x20mm Illuminated CMR Reticle for close-mid range rapid target acquisition.
Mark 6 3-18x44mm w/ Horus 58 Reticle for mid-long range precision shooting.
For close range rapid target acquisition, mount a Aimpoint T1 Micro 2 MOA Red Dot Scope using a LaRue LT787 Micro T-1 Ring Mount on the Mark 6.
I owned a Leupold MKIII 3.5-10x40 with a regular reticle and had it mounted on my Rem 700 for years. I could comfortably shoot decent groups out to 300 yards with it and the guy who bought my rifle has fired it out to 500 yards with reasonable accuracy.
I have a shooting buddy who won a 1000 yard match with a 10X Leupold MKIV on his Remington 700. I think 10X is good enough if you are not benchrest shooting.
I would suggest buying a scope with either a Mil Dot reticle or a reticle with hash marks in 1 or 2 MOA increments on the horizontal and vertical stadia for holding off. Tactical elevation knobs for quick adjustment are also recommended.
The options are endless. Good luck with your search.
