I need some help confirming the manufacturer of a “Soviet” Type II AK 47 bayonet that I bought from Rguns.net. The scabbard has the Tula Star on it but I can’t find the star on the bayonet itself. It appears that something was ground off of the bakelite hilt so I’m questioning the bayonet. There are some proof marks on the pommel and the metal of the crossguard/bayonet ring. I’m including pictures but the marks on the pommel appear to be a trapezoid with something in it and a diamond with a 3 inside. The marks on the hand guard/bayonet ring appear to be a diamond surrounding a 03 or 08 and an oval surrounding a 10 not Bulgarian circle 10. Are these Tula markings or another arsenals.
looks like Ishevsk Arsenal from the marks On the hilt
ETA: Iraqguz I was just there !!!if you look On the type II on that page it shows Markings similar to yours
I think the ground off part is where the hand etched serial number was.
I looked at that web site and when I scrolled down and saw the pictures of the Type 2 bayonets; I followed the Russian link in blue. When I saw the pictures of the Type 2 bayonets I noticed similar proof marks on the crossguard but there was references to Tula and Izhesk so I wasn’t sure which one I had.
Thanks, I guess I have a mismatched scabbard and bayonet.
I bet you could find a matching scabbard if you look hard enough but i wouldn’t worry about it
I’m good with it. I was more concerned that I got ripped off and paid too much. I saw the grind mark and thought they pulled a fast one by putting a lesser value bayonet in a Tula scabbard.
I am glad you didn’t there was a guy selling Chinese knock off on the other site that had Russian scabbards  what people do thinking they won’t get caught:rolleyes:
