help needed: 2new BCM's or 1 new Noveske NSR

First of all I am a new member, but i have been reading everything i can here for the past two years. The reason i became a member is that the fine people of this site are not people who say bushmaster,DPMS, and companies lumped with that group are just as good or better than Colt. There is no BS around here if someone asks about an inferior product you all do your best to in form them. Thank you for being the only online forum that is truly informed.

So my question is should i assemble 2 new BCM rifles or should i assemble 1 new Noveske with the NSR modular rail? The reason i say assemble is i will be purchasing upper and building lowers myself. Some call that building a rifle. I do not.

Im looking to see if anyone has any experience with the NSR front end. The BCM’s would be two light weight BFH uppers.

As of now i have a 16" LMT MRP CQB and 2 14.5 Bravo Company BFH (one EAG tactical setup and one with MOE forearm) with permed vortex’s.

I will be purchasing everything before the end of the week. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have wanted a Noveske for a while, but what would you do and why?

Thank you for your time

Both brands are solid performers and you’d be doing no harm by having either. Since you already have a couple other AR’s I see no reason why you shouldn’t get the Noveske if it’s what you want.

On the other hand, if you decide to go with BCM, that’s two more guns to
add to the collection (obviously.) from my standpoint you really can’t go wrong either way.

What are the intended uses for the rifles?
What Noveske upper are you looking at?

The Noveske would be the 18 inch spr with NSR. Which would fill the medium range precision role. If i do not get the Noveske the MRP will get a stainless barrel and fill the medium range precision role.

The lightweight builds would be for my mother and sister to have. I have already assembled one for my brother and father.

Im trying to find out if any one has any experience with the NSR and their opinions on it.

I just put together an SPR with the NSR. There might be some useful info here https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=109073

Thanks p2000 i checked out your thread. I love the way the NSR looks. If you don’t mind going over what your thoughts are on the NSR since you wrote that up. Highlighting what you like, don’t like, and if you were to start the build today would you use the NSR again?

Thanks for all the input.

I would choose the NSR again, definitely. It is rock solid and very light. Install was easy although I had to buy a crowfoot and an adapter. The only hurdles were the gas block issue and coming up with a bipod mounting solution that didn’t involve a dogpile system of rails and adapters. Noveske states that they are working on a bipod for the NSR too, so that will be another option in the future as well, probably a very nice solution!

From the posed question, NSR since it’s the only one that would do something your two existing BCM uppers don’t already do. The weight difference between the govvy and LW profiles can be handled just as well with lighter weaponlights and more minimalist handguard covering.

That said, what optics do you have currently on your MRP? It might be far more logical to upgrade the glass on that and run it as your precision rifle, then just run the piss out of your existing BCM uppers. If you feel they need updating, throw a C4 Cutout rail on your MOE equipped one, but I don’t see how you’re deficient right now.

Both Of those are solid performers. I’m partial to bcm though

what situations are you thinking you will find your self in that a basic carbine can’t solve for you?

If you buy the two BCMs, then you can go to classes with a backup in case one suffers breakage for any reason. for this reason alone I would go with two BCMs.

of course, your money, your choice…just my 2 cents for what little it’s worth after inflation.

The MRP has a tac30 on it which works for its intended purposes. If i get the stainless barrel for the MRP optic will change. As far as precision role The ar platform will only be mid range precision role. A 7mm rem mag will be my longest range i will ever shoot precision role.

I know i already have most of my bases covered, but i think Im just going to get the Noveske this month and then get the BCM’s next month. Right now the one upper with the MOE handguard is set up for my dad to shoot, and the two lightweight BCM’s will be set up for my mom and sister to shoot. They like to shoot my rifles but won’t spend the money on them so once i get optics and lights on them they will be gifts. the 2 i have now will be mine plus the Noveske. Then one more for my brother.

I was hoping someone would some kind of feedback that might make the decision easier, and all the responses made me realize i should just get them both.

1859 what i have can do everything i need now but at the end the winter i will have a 600 yard range at my house and i would like something with a little more precision and the chamber is optimized to shoot 77grain matchkings.

Thanks for the info on the NSR P2000 your info is gonna cost me a lot more but i will be better off in the long run.

1859sharps i answered you in my post above i messed up and put it in the middle of the original post.

Im just going to get both and turn the BCM’s into gifts once they have optics and lights. That will leave me with 3 rifles my MRP, the Noveske, and the EAG.

Everyone in my family will also have nice rifles so when we go shooting know one will have to wait for a rifle.

Please buy the Noveske. Oregon needs the business! :cray:

I am i decided to buy both i will be ordering upper tonight, and will pick up three lowers tomorrow. I will assemble the Noveske this month and set the lowers aside and build them next month when i purchase the uppeors.

I can second that.

Good luck with your decision. It’ll wear your brain out debating.

Just ordered 18" Noveske spr with NSR 1,310 after shipping. I only wish i only wish i could have ordered it with a pinned switchblock.

I wish they were a little cheaper i just looked and for both BCM uppers, MOE handguard for both, and for3 bolt carrier groups (one spare) cost right about the same.

Always wanted a Noveske spr as long as the quality and accuracy are on par with all the reviews i have read i will be a happy man.

Now i can also save the MRP chasis to do a 300 BLK.

Jdub and 3ae i doubt my purchase of less than $2000 will do a lot for Oregon.

Gunslinger i know but i think i made the right decision. From now on Im not going to try to decide between to things i want and just get them both from now on (for purchases under 3k). Unless i win the lotto.

Thanks for all the opinions guys they helped.
