I need help. My wife “authorized” me to spend about $600 from our tax refund. I need help spending the money.
I am in the process of putting together an SBR.
I already have the complete lower, the upper, the barrel, and the $ for the tax stamp and engraving.
What I need:
Bolt carrier group: I’ll get the BCM F/A bcg for $130
Charging handle: $21
BUIS: I’ll get the LaRue for $90
Action block: $35
Wrench: $22
Total: $298
I have about $300 left to spend. Do I save that money for an Aimpoint ML3 and mount combo from LaRue at $524, or do I buy a rail system and wait on the Aimpoint?
If I wait on the rail system, I would have to get something that I can install later without pulling the FSB or barrel nut. I would prefer something free floated if I’m going through the trouble. The rail systems I’m looking at are:
- DD Omega Rail - I really like everything about it except I don’t see that it limits rotation.
- DD Lite Rail - I would have to put this on right at the start and I would need their proprietary barrel nut wrench.
- Troy MRF-C - About the same price as the Omega. Doesn’t have an integral sling swivel mount, but limits rotation
- MI #20 - The price is hard to beat
Should I get the rail first or wait a bit more and get the Aimpoint? Any help making up my mind would be appreciated. This will be a patrol rifle if that helps.
