I have finally been able to get my budget for suppressors increased so I can buy 2 of them. I am looking to buy a suppressor for 9mm and one for 5.56. I have a total budget of $1000 (excluding tax stamps). I’m not really looking for K models right now.
Right now, I think that I am most likely to purchase an AAC ti-rant ($400) and Silencerco Specwar ($550).
I know that the ti-rant is very well regarded and I am pretty sure that is the pistol suppressor I am going to get. However, I do have some other options for the rifle suppressor that I wanted some feedback on. Based upon the prices, it looks like the following are also options:
YHM Phantom ($463), Pros: Cheaper and shorter
Griffin Armament Spartan 3 ($515), Pros: Shorter and lighter
My local dealer also has an AAC SPR/M4 demo model ($500). I can’t find as much about this one as it does not appear to be currently carried by Silencershop. It appears to be an older can with a good reputation, but I don’t know if there is new technology that has surpassed this. I have also heard complaints about the teeth for the QD device wearing out and I am worried that this will be a more pronounced problem with a demo model. There certainly is some cosmetic wear, but I am not too concerned about that. I should add that it has not been fired to the best of my knowledge, but I will be confirming that if it is the one I pick.
I am willing to consider different pistol suppressors as well, but the ti-rant seems to offer the best option between price and performance and allows me to spend more on the rifle suppressor.
The AAC Ti-rant is good for the money at 400. I have one. It works. Too bad you didn’t get one 30 days ago, you could have received a 200 dollar credit.
What are your goals with the rifle suppressor. What length barrel is it going on… A SBR? Does weight, material, what mounting system do you like/want, etc, matter? The Specwar is decent for 550 bucks. Need a little more info so everyone can give you better advice. If I was you, I would buy the Ti-rant… some places I have seen them in the 350 range not to long ago… Put the extra 50 bucks towards the rifle can. Eat PBJ and ramen noodles for a month and put another 250 towards the rifle can. Saker, Socom, etc… Just my .02
The rifle can would be going on a SCAR and an 18" SPR type AR15. I was initially planning on getting a pistol suppressor, but things changed and I know have the budget for both. Unfortunately that means I don’t know as much about the difference options for a rifle suppressor so the questions about weight, mounting, etc. are difficult for me to answer as I am not too familiar with the range of options.
For an SPR rifle POA/POI shift is usually one of the first on a list of priorities, which most certainly related with mounting. Im not that familiar with the SPR/M4, but based upon the options you listed, at that price point, I would choose the Specwar.
i would recommend getting the new omega from silencerco for a do all suppressor I don’t think it can be beat
that and something like a ti rant would be my choice especially if they are still on special like they were for $359 they cant be beat to me , probably over budget but buy the best and be done, you have the spend the 200 for the stamp and wait a few months,
