Help me make a decision

I’m still healing up from a wound and can’t shoot handguns. I want another “assault rifle.” I already have a Sabre middy AR15, FAL, and an AK47. I’m really eyeing the MSAR-STG 556, S&W AR15 in 5.45mm, and the TPDUSA AXR.

Should I go for immediate gratification and grab the MSAR at my local shop, skipping out on the better mag release of the AXR but saving hundreds over the AXR which would no doubt be spent on the proprietary mags of the MSAR? I’d probably still have enough to pick up the S&W 5.45 as well.

Or should I hold out and wait impatiently for the AXR? I might still pick up the S&W in this event as well.

Is the AXR worth hundreds more than the MSAR?

Little,
I can understand instant gratification but I recently bought a Steyr AUG A1 that I really like and have since been looking for another AUG style rifle. If it were me I would go with the AXR because of the milled receiver and the MSAR is having some extraction problems in some cases. What I am going to do is wait for the Steyr USA built AUG that will be coming out at the end of the year(check their website) and see what that looks like. I think it will probably be worth waiting for.

Little,
Both myself and a buddy bought an AXR. Never shot the STG556. I liked the original Aug type optic on the STG556 but the forward assist and the non-AR mags helped seal the deal. The AXR is a very nice gun. The thumb mag release button works very well and feels natural. It is a surprisingly accurate gun. Even with the trigger. The trigger is a bit heavy, but not horrible by any stretch of the imagination. I also have an RA XCR which has a worse trigger and I shoot it less accurately. I have not had any problems with my AXR and am very happy with my purchase.

Hmm, maybe I’ll pick up the 5.45 and hold out.

Bought the 5.45 S&W AR15.
