Help me identify this.

I picked up a 2-position receiver extension. It doesn’t have any markings on it. It is milspec and came with the oldstyle lock ring. Any ideas?

I believe the old Colt SP1 carbines from the 70s and 80s had these…

Seen on early Colt carbines, but not in some time. They were available in the CMMG and other bargain bins for a time for cheap.

Thanks. I bought it from a local surplus store that sells alot of surplus uppers and parts and thought it might be a colt part.

I don’t know if others made them too, but I know they were on some of my Colts, and were verified as coming from others.

Scott likely has more information and could more easily verify.

They were made several companies in both military and commercial diameters. Two position buffer tubes were the only type of tube until the 1990s. It should be worth a good bit of cash even if it isn’t Colt. Because yours is is the military diameter I would suspect Colt.

How much would they be worth? The place has 2 more with the stock for $30 although i dont know if they are milspec or commercial and one has a purpleish blue finish.

Can you post a picture of it? Is the keyway ripped out?

Its worth somewhere between $0 and $100 until you can tell us more.

Ok, here are some pictures. Didn’t have a chance to do it until today.

The tube is Colt.

The lock ring and backplate are not Colt.

You didn’t take a good picture of the keyway. Remove the lock ring and backplate and take a picture of the keyway.

ok, I am assuming this is what you mean by the keyway.

Are the stocks themselves fiberlite or aluminum? If aluminum, they’re pretty rare and are worth some $$$, even if they’re reproductions.

Since the keyway is not ripped, it is worth somewhere between $75 to $100.

I will have to see if there are any more then. Thanks for the info.

This came with an unmarked fiberite stock with the ribs. I sure wish it was aluminum though.
