Help me choose a sling

Researched this site and others on 1/2 point sling and have it down to 2.

I plan to attach sling to Magpul ASAP and RSA.

  1. Savvy Sniper HD Quad Saw Sling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMna1_JobBo

Pros - Like the thicker webbing and HK Hooks.
Cons - Con on the cost. Bungee?

  1. Tac-Strap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFBg9W7CwbM

Pros - Like the thicker webbing, appears to be thicker, and HK Hooks. Positive on the cost.
Cons - Looks like have to reach under arm to adjust strap in some situations.

Question -
How are they and how well do they appear to hold up? Enough strap adjustability? What is your opinion of slings with bungee? How do bungee slings feel on the shoulder? Opinion of bungee/ no bungee? Is it better to have to pull or push the adjustment strap when tightening/loosening the sling?

Opinion on HK Hooks vs. snap shackles? Which do you prefer and why?

Comments…

Well, I’m not one of the forum gurus, and I don’t have any experience with bungee slings. That being said:

Is there a specific reason you would want a sling with bungee?

If not, the only things I really got from those vids is you’re looking for a sling that’s adjustable, and/or can convert from a 2-point to 1-point (or vice versa).

Have you checked out Blue Force Gear/ Vickers Combat Applications Sling (VCAS)? They make both padded and unpadded versions, and can be used with any attachment point, including HK’s. They are also easily adjusted on the fly with their pull strap. It also won’t break the bank as the Victory version runs around $30-something, plus I think someone mentioned their “going green” sale is still on (?) for the standard VCAS.

If you’re looking for something convertible between 1 and 2 points, why not look at a Magpul MS2? A little simpler than a VCAS, and no pad option, but apparently does a good job.
Also, if I recall there’s a thread floating around here somewhere by rob_s, where he shows how you can convert a VCAS (?) from a two-point to one-point.

Unless you’re looking for something a lot more specific, those two options should pretty much cover everything you’d want a sling to do.

I had looked at the MS@ as well. However I had heard that the strap is narrow and the strap has a tendency to curve, which creates more of a crease and doesn’t distribute the weight of the gun as well. Also that the strap frays easily and there is limited strap adjustment.

I will look at the other you mentioned as well.

Another sling to look at is the Huskey Amentum slider sling from Ares Armor. Also if you want a sling that can convert from a 2 point to 1 point then you can add a 2 To 1 Point Triglide from Impact Weapons Components to a lot of slings.

Also there’s a few other threads that might help a little:

That should cover pretty much everything…

I just went through this and it was between the Vickers/Gear Sector(2 point).I really like them both, but ended up getting a good deal on the Blue Force.IMO flip a coin

One could say that the topic may have come up a time or two.
