Like an idiot I got a bit of sand in my (carbine length) handguard and delta ring. removing the handguard was a bear, and I just can’t seem to get them back on. I admit that I’m not the strongest man in the world an I’m finding it impossible to push the delta ring all the way down and putting the handgard halves back in place at the same time. does anyone have any helpful suggestions?
Get a second body to help. Or get a handguard tool.
A gently applied flat tip screw driver always worked for me. Get the front under the end cap and carefully press down with the tip between the slip ring and handguard. Raise the handle up which pushes the hg down.
Be careful you can crack the handguard!

I use the handle of some Channel locks. Works just like the handguard removal tool!
Plus they’re coated in rubber, so you dont mess anything up.

I forgot to add that it is usually easier if you seperate the upper and lower receivers before removing/installing the handguards.

DO NOT GET THE WEB OF SKIN BETWEEN THE THUMB AND FOREFINGER CAUGHT IN THERE!!!
