Hey guys, I am not new to ars by any means but I am having issues with my newest set up. I just got my 14.5 LMT upper in today with an LMT M16 BCG and I am having feeding issues. I have tried multiple known to work with out a hitch mags multiple kinds of ammo and what is happening its the bolt is not fully going forward and then getting locked into place where I have to fight to get it open and I can not use the forward assist to even budge it to seat properly. The lower is a Noveske. I also have an h2 buffer in the rifle. I don’t know if this is a chamber issue or what and really want to get this figured out. It works sometimes but I have had more failures to feed then proper feed rounds.
I meant to put this is the technical section, so I apologize for the mistake.
Look to see if your Gas tube is canted inside the upper receiver.
Now please clarify a bit by what you mean by FTF. Is it stripping a round from the mag at all? is it partially chambering the round? Your BCG is properly lubed?
It is partially chambering the round but not fully, the bcg is lubed very well. The gas tube is not canted. I did a little more testing and emptied all my mags and then took the XM193 which seemed to be feeding with out a hitch and used it in all the mags and they all fed then took the HSM I have and tried feeding it in the same mags and then I had the failure for the bolt to fully seat and become stuck. The HSM sat out in the garage and I think possibly had some clp leak into the boxes and was allowed to sit. I had forgotten to take a bottle out from a bag I had on top of the ammo and it leaked so it would be caused by improper storage by me seeing as the same ammo ran flawlessly before sitting for so long. I am going to try a different buffer tomorrow with both ammo types and see if there is any difference. if its the ammo its going to suck beacause I have 400 rounds worth and dont want to test each round. Because I also tried it with some Black Hills match and didnt have issue. Some of the HSM was stored in mags though and where not subject to the same conditions as the boxed stuff.
HSM is reloaded ammo. The problem is that it hasn’t been resized properly. I had an Armalite upper that would not work with some reloads that were not sized properly but would work in my colt upper fine. The chamber in your new LMT is a little tighter then the last rifle you shot this ammo in. If you still have the last rifle then just shoot the HSM stuff in it.
I am pretty sure it was just an ammo issue. Today I fired 150 rounds of XM193 through it with out a hitch. If there is ever an issue I will contact Gene @ LMT.
Thanks for the responses, I had to deal with some DHL issues and was just super happy to have my upper and then had the feed issue and started getting mad but today like I said function flawlessly shoot good with buis and will have a acog/red dot set up on it in about two weeks.
