Help choosing flashlight

Hey everyone, I am putting together all the gear I need for my patrol rifle, so far I have made up my mind on the optics, sling, rail system, and BUIS’s. The only thing I need is a flash light for the weapon. After the past mention addons you can see how money is tight. So please help me choose a reliable, bright, quality flashlight for a good price.

So far the TLR-1s seem pretty good, its 160 lummens. I have the older TLR1 on my sig 226 and it has endured plenty of recoil from that weapon, not sure if it would do as well on an AR though.

Your input will be greatly apreciated.

Anything that will use a malkoff m60 bulb. Can’t go wrong with em period. Unless you just like the switch/mounting of the pistol weaponlights.

You may want to check out the Streamlight Poly-Tac LED. I’ve been playing aaround with one for a couple of weeks and it is very nice, good battery life, 120 lumens, “clickie” style tail-cap, and around $40-45.

So far I have tried it in a VLTOR Offset scout mount and it worked fine. It’s a little narrower than the Surefire G2 so it won’t work in some mounts designed for the G2, but I think it will work in those designed for the Classic Surefires like the 6P. I should have a standard VLTOR Scout Mount for the 6P type lights here in a couple of days and will be able to check it then.

All in all though it’s a very nice and reasonably priced light.

These aren’t cheap but they come with the Makloff M60 that Lonewolf suggested: http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?1940-Elzetta-ZFL-M60-Review-Part-One

If its going on your duty rifle whatever you do, dont go cheap. Save up a little more and get quality.

Those look nice, were can I get them and were is it the cheapest? Keep them coming.

That looks great. I’ve got an m60 in Surefire 6p that I carry on my duty belt and one on each of my long guns. You won’t be sorry using it.

jet beam jet III-Military

excellent rifle mount option. check out the candle power forums if you dont buy into the surefire or nothing crowd.

I got a Fenix TK11 with a VLTOR offset mount on my rifle. I liked the price, the dual mode, and the forward click tailcap.

If I hadn’t already got that I probably would have bought one from this thread.

An X300 if you need a really compact light. A Surefire G2 with an LED upgrade if you want to go cheaper.

Anyone have any experience with a TLR1s on a rifle? I was originally set on buying one of these until reading these posts.

ive got one on my glock 19 and its seen about 1k on my rifle. you cant go wrong with a streamlight

I’ve used it on a rifle before. My main beef with the TLR-1 is the way the rocker switch works. You can’t press forward on the rocker and activate the light, or at least you couldn’t on all the TLR-1’s I tried. (They have a new and improved model, IIRC, and I don’t know if they rectified that) The ability to push forward on the switch to get momentary light is, in my opinion, highly desirable.

That being said, with enough training you can learn to work around that relatively minor issue.

^On the TLR-1 and the TLR-2, you turn one way for momentary and the other for constant.
