Help...AK confusion(there are just to many)

Arsenal SGL20-41, WASR and CAI’s Polish model 1960 milled receiver…is Arsenal the correct choice? And if so why? is there better accuracy to be had with one over the other? All I know is the milled one will be about a pound heavier.

I would like to get an AK but know nothing about them really other than operate and shoot them. Would likely put a rail on it with a Aimpoint Micro, but that is about all.

I have read threads but cannot seem to find direct comparison to help make a decision. All of these are easily available locally over the counter.

Thanks for the advice

Its AK - hard to f’ it up. My personal preference is Arsenal- plus this is an Arsenal Saiga(Russian) so it doesnt get closer than that. There was a batch out there where FSP was misaligned, but that was it. I did have a Century Polish Tantal and they did F’ that up but gave me a refund.

Templar can really jump all over this but the milled recievers are just that, out of a hunk of steel. The origninal Arsenal’s had chrome lined Styer barrels. Much today(and what the AK evolved to) is all stamped - and they work!

WASR work - I have a couple, but honesly, my own feelings are these are the poorest quality AKs(But They Work!)

As for the sight mounts, the Ultimak/Aimpoint T1 combo cannot be beat. VERY EASY. This is the most copied design honestly:

go with the arsenal .

But Century tries its damndest to with every one they put out :D. Of the three (probably just 2 since most Wasrs I’ve ceen have been Century builds) go with the Arsenal.

What role will it fill? How do you plan on using it? What needs will it meet?

The SGL, without question.

Best workmanship, cold hammer forged chrome lined barrel.

I own VEPRs, SARs, Arsenals, and a horrible kit build (AKS-74 clone)…go with the Arsenal line.

Arsenal and Norinco for me.

My oldest son (10 years old) picked the AK platform for his first center fire rifle. I plan to get a WASR (from Henderson Defense) for him. I will teach him to work/refinish the wood and metal components. I think it will be a fun project for him.
