Hello all I’m new to the ar and have a smith and Wesson m&p 15 sport
Question is after cleaning I wipe out side of barrel with an oiled cloth
What do I use on upper and lower I’m not used to aluminum firearm receiver’s
The Finnish seems dry and rough
Anyone help
I didnt say the outside was spottles, I said the inside, put on ypur listenong ears. I have four ARs ONE of them is spottless on the OUTSIDE that the gun I take to Camp Perry. People don’t be smart a#@es just for the sake of it.Take care of yourselves and the ones you love.SEMPER FI

Has been well proven for a while now.
For an AR to work for an extended time, lubrication is the only thing that matters.
There is nothing wrong with cleaning your guns, but don’t get wrapped around the axle on spotless operating parts, and apply a generous amount of lubricant.
I’m not telling you what to do, just what to do if you want your gun to run for a few thousand rounds between cleanings.

I agree 100 percent the cleaning thing is just a mild sickness. when it becomes time to use them they get lubricated to the point that most would consider too wet. Im stupid that way.
This is the only site I’ve ever seen that advocates minimal to no cleaning. Even after thousands of rounds…just squirt more oil in it. Poor maintenance habits are nothing to be proud of.
