OK, got my overstrong hands involved and stripped one of the holes on the ring of the M68 mount for my Aimpoint M2. Before I order the 6-32 helicoils to repair the threads has anyone here ever tried this before? Is there enough material to allow boring of the hole for the helicoil tap?

I’m not trying to be snarky, but this may sound that way:
Instead of repairing your ARMS mount, which is like taking a Bic lighter in for repairs, why not take the opportunity to get one from LaRue, ADM, KAC, Bobro, or similar?
ARMS spends more money suing their successful competitors instead of doing their own product development. While they may not be total clown-shoes, they are a stagnant entity, and their throw-arms break, practically if you look at them with both eyes at the same time.
If you’ve had success with what you have, fantastic, but it seems like a lot of effort for little return, in the long run.
The correct tool to fix the problem would be a Larue or ADM mount. 
or wilcox mount. 
You guys are absolutely correct and I do have a Larue LT150 for the first M2 I bought. Picked this one up used and the mount came with it, buddy has the 6-32 helicoil install tool, just need to buy a #25 drill and the inserts. Figured it was worth the $15 and 20 minute investment to try and save. Did not know about the throw levers breaking that easily though. Thanks for the info.
Follow up on this repair…yes it can be done. Received the Helicoils this morning, bored out all 4 holes, tapped and installed Helicoils. Good as new, actually better than new, can now put my sausage fingered meat hooks on full torque mode and even I can’t strip out the holes.
