Heckler & Koch VP9 at 50 Yards

For kicks and giggles I fired some statistically insignificant 6-shot groups from my VP at a distance of 50 yards. Using one of my best 9x19mm hand-loads topped with the Hornady 125 grain HAP bullet, I fired seven, 6-shot groups in a row from the bench. The average extreme spread for the seven groups was 2.40”.

The cherry-picked group of the bunch is pictured below. The group has an extreme spread of 1.52”.

Wow! Awesome.

Really? 50 yards? Damn!

Great shooting from a great pistol.

That is pretty outstanding shooting.

Thats an amazing group. Out of curiousity what do you think makes the VP9 so precise? How does the barrel fit to the slide?

Awesome. Nice work and I’m looking forward to your future contributions. Welcome back.

I wish I could upload gopro vids on here. I was just messing around one day with my Vp9 so I decided to try a 16oz water bottle at 45yrds and I hit on the second shot (probably got lucky) but I got it on gopro. Awesome gun. Next im going to try a 2 ltr at 100yrds. I love this pistol.

I take nothing away from Molon’s shooting or his VP9. Obviously there is something good going on there. But don’t underestimate the accuracy of the Hornady HAP bullet. I have some .355, 115 grain examples that I’ve shot through a stock Colt .38 Super Auto and gotten outstanding accuracy compared to any other bullet I’ve used. Good bullet+good pistol+good shooter = outstanding result.

Amazing and impressive. Thanks for sharing

The 115 grain HAP bullet is indeed capable of producing excellent accuracy. The 121 grain HAP and 125 grain HAP bullets, even more so . . .

……

Why only 6 shots for your group?

Molon, I’m glad to see you’re back and I’d love to hear your thoughts on a 9mm accuracy load using the 125 gr HAP bullets. What powder do you use and what’s your process for coming up with an accuracy load for a particular firearm?

The barrel are match fit (as if they were done by hand).

Molon,

What sights are you using on the gun? Stock?

Phenomenal precision!

Molan,
I am going to have to try the 121 and 124 grain HAP’s. The 121, is that what is known the International Flat Point?

Thx for the info on the round and barrel fitting.

I don’t have any fancy group shots but I was shooting the black “cover up” dots for shoot-n-c targets at 15 paces with my VP9 ( no measurement marks on my range and I didn’t have a tape). For sure this like my other HKs is a great shooter.

Nice grouping
