I just picked up my 2nd KAC sr15 and on inspection, I found the bolt was heavily parkerized. I mean it had a finish of a texured wall! I was wondering if anyone had come across this and if it created any issues. I was going to shoot the shit out of it and see if that would smooth it out, or does it need to be re-finished.
Without pics its impossible to say but Id just shoot it. KAC also tests their guns by actually firing them so if there was an issue most likely it wont reach your hands.
Lube it up and shoot the heck out of it. No worries!!
That’s what I figured.
I just got back from shooting 250 rounds and the weapon ran just fine. I took a look at the bolt and carrier real quick and there was some spots of the parkerization worn away. I was planning to ship the BCG in to have the Fail Zero treatment anyway and they would strip the finish. It was just strange to see the bolt covered in the rough texture.
This is why I joined the M4C group, I always come up with questions about shit and this site seems to get any question answered!
Glad to hear you got her runnin’ Hashmark.
