The Warden ad I are heading to Front Sight to shoot shotguns and then rifles. We are taking two unfired shotguns (Mossberg 930 and Remington 887), but as that compromises our entire shotgun inventory, I don’t feel too bad. We are also taking four Rifles and only one of them has truly been tested. They do have store bought uppers., Noveske, PWS, Armalite, and Anonymous. The Armalite has 1,000 rounds thru the assembled rifle. I have seen in the past a few shortcomings with my Gunsmithing skills or lack of skills. Still I have that stupid confidence that all will shoot. We will not be using irons if I, or the Warden, has anything to say about it. We have learned the hard way that optics is better for older people. I have a Leopold VR-X 1.5 x 5 on my Noveske upper while the Warden will be using a Hi-Lux red dot on old Anonymous. The PWS and Armalite ‘Spares’ both have Aimpoint Pros. We are taking the spares in case we need them for some reason, (Better than quitting training) but if our primary guns work the spare won’t get fired… at the range.
I know I should have found a place to pop off a few rounds and verify the bore sight zero as well as form and function. I know I should have and wish I could have…but I couldn’t.
