I have a guy locally that customizes the TGI (FEG) AMD. He strips the crappy paing off and then Crekotes the AMD 2 tone. Black and Flat Dark Earth or Black and OD, or what ever combo color you want.
The price is pretty reasonable considering what I say one at another local shop listed for a plain jane one.

AMDs are decent enough AKs but the finish does royally suck. I think a refinish is a pretty good idea and what’s better than Cerakote. Two tone schemes always looks kind of cheesy and amateurish to me but that’s just an opinion. For a functional finish I’d prefer a single, lighter color like FDE that can be painted over with krylon and then stripped and repainted for different environments/seasons etc. That may or may not be a valuable feature to you.

If you search around I know there are a thread or two about them. Iraqgunz weighed in on them from personal experience. The end story for me was that they weren’t quite worth it compared to a more standard Ak.
I would recommend adding the V5/AMD sling adaptor from Echo Nine Three and the Cheek riser from AMD 65 Tech.
Yeap. Especially the cheek riser.
I dont really care for them. Even shorter sight radius than regular AK, l dont like wire stocks and its a pita to change it from what l hear, l dont like the 4 inches of brake/barrel extension and the handgaurds arent very functional.
I’m partial to arsenal or saiga converts.

I just ordered one of these from centerfire. Hoping for a good beat it up type of rifle. As for paint would it just require degrease / clean whole rifle tape off openings and then rattlecan? I am really wanting to give this rifle some character. Any opinions on paint prep procedures is greatly appreciated. First mods are going to be cheek riser and sling mount as suggested above tho
