For us with Viking lineage.

For us with Viking lineage.

I guess its not taught in schools, but he “discovered” America 500 years before Columbus.
I don’t really care who discovered the continent of America, I more care that people learn that big government pushed people to come here to search for a better life. Oh if if your one of those people who believe its “Natives people’s day” then please realize big government took their lands by force and killed those who didn’t obey because historically big government is bad no matter how you look at it
Oh boo. I thought you were talking about this guy

Ah Vikings….the last thing White people are sorta kinda allowed fo be proud of (for now).
Anyways I’m Native and it’s always been Columbus Day. It happened. Changing days is Iconoclastic and evil
I still don’t understand why Columbus is both celebrated and persecuted on a continent he never actually set foot on. He wasn’t even close to where he thought he was.
Government “Let’s change the wrong day we had about Columbus and pretend we care about the people we decimated, destroyed, extinct, and extinguished to make leftists feel better!”
Never give up anything for the Gov, people.
Also, being of “Viking lineage” is the new, “My family were Spartans!” after the rise of 300, and then the show Vikings.
Is there a way to validate “Viking lineage”? DNA? Almost all Vikings were Scandinavian, but not all Scandinavians were Vikings. Depending on which genealogy/DNA site I am 25% +/- Finn and 6% +/- Swedish and Dane, I wonder if if I can claim “Viking lineage.”
This. Again itÂ’s one of the few things white folks have left.
WhatÂ’s SUPER sad is like the well-meaning white folks who come up to me and apologize for the evils of the white man. Which I find super depressing.
My life has been pretty cush. I canÂ’t say it hasnÂ’t. I havenÂ’t really worked in twenty years, IÂ’m not digging a ditch, IÂ’m not homeless, and I get to do whatever I want.
Honestly I cherish white people. The art, the engineering, they are perhaps the most charitable race, and keeping it realÂ….life greatly improves when White people are in charge.
I mean I can sit here and go on about mysticism and matrilineal tribalism and while I did like the movie Prey and I do want to give Amber Midthunder a baby but if it werenÂ’t for White people I would not have guns I like, my record collection, my computer, my phone, nor my automobile.
You know whatÂ….life isnÂ’t totally bad all the way really.
Almost all People with mostly DNA from England/Ireland/Scotland have Scandinavian lineage, because the Vikings came there and conquered the place, and got lots of dates with the women.

As it happened, in 1951!
Lol…
My son saw some Vikings episodes so I would use that imagery and model for him to use in sports and life. Just imagine being in one of those oversized day sailers, in a storm in the North Atlantic, in the middle of the night, on the edge of the world…
Funny someone mentioned Spartans. After 300, a phrase I would use with my son was “On or with”, as in on your shield or with it. When he would go somewhere with his little sister, instead of giving him the safety speech, I’d just say “On or with”.
You can do a family history search and find out where your ancestors are, I wouldn’t go off of DNA, that is a “garbage in-garbage out” algorithm that just looks at predominant genes from predominant areas. It really isn’t specific enough.
I am a descendant of several famous Vikings.
I am also a descendant of a not famous Cherokee family from North Georgia.
I am also a descendant of someone who joined the Confederate Army at 14 and fought in several major battles of the War and then Joined the US Calvary before the end of the war.
I am also a descendant of someone from a predominantly Confederate area that joined the US Calvary because the family opposed slavery.
I am also a descendant of a founder of the State of Franklin.
I am also a descendant of a War of 1812 veteran who was killed by former slaves dressed a KKK members after the Civil War.
You won’t find out that type of stuff from DNA. You will have to search records for that.
More interesting than DNA too. ![]()
There’s two parts to it, right? You have to connect dots via records, for-real records. That’s how you find out with zero doubt to whom you are related.
DNA is absolutely 100% in proving relationship. But in the case of Vikings (or any specific group of people), since they are a ill-defined group emanating from six, seven countries, DNA won’t give you that, just DNA evidence of your ethnic group (i.e., for me, strong Finn, some Swede, some Norwegian, some Dane, strong English).
I love genealogy, been working on it in earnest for about 3 years, less seriously for about 3 years before. I have been just amazed at what I have uncovered. Talking about slaying some familial sacred cows lol. But also some very, very cool relations (Wm Shakespeare, Ben Franklin, Christopher Newport, etc.).
I got into it, really, because my dad’s parents abandoned him and his siblings when they were all small children, and I knew squat about my paternal grandmother.
I agree. If your family history says that you are descended from Ragnar Lodbrok but you only have asian and sub-saharan african DNA, that isn’t likely. ![]()
I honestly don’t put much stock into anything beyond probably the 1500’s just because of the reliability of records and the tendency of families, particularly nobility/royalty of “making” themselves descendants of particular famous people. I am a descendant of Ragnar, but we don’t really know that Ragnar was even a real person to be a descendant of. There are some families that are definitely descendants of Vikings that were part of the Danelaw or in my case far Northern Scotland nobility that are probably much more likely.
I am also related to Uhtred of Bebbanburg before he became famous. ![]()
I did find it interesting that I do not have a single ancestor that immigrated to the United States. They were all here before it was. ![]()
I’m proud of a bunch of stuff I’m not supposed to be, ancestral and personal.
In fact if it offends some minority group, or bunch of woke morons I’m even more “proud” of whatever it is.
I also slayed a family sacred cow.
My father was a huge Civil War buff and always leaned on the Rebel side of things. When we were small, we went to the battlefield at Shiloh and he let us get a hat. I chose the Union hat and by Dad used to make fun of me.
I found out that the only direct ancestor on his side of the family that fought in the Civil War was actually in a Union Calvary unit as was his whole family. One of the few units in the area that wasn’t Confederate. ![]()
My Mother’s side had a part Indian Confederate soldier in it and they didn’t look like they did because they were “Eye-talian” as they always told me. ![]()
My mom and her family had dark complexion, dark eyes, dark hair. There is evidence of relationship to the Nansamond Indians of eastern Virginia. And that was the story, and they were sticking to it. What they DIDN’T like to talk about was that great-grandmother x 7, she had a son with an African, she and the son married an Englishman last name of Bass. That son is my GGfather x 6, and from him is where I have legit sub-Saharan DNA. That is, ummmm, unpopular in rural North Carolina lol.
They settled eastern Virginia; one relative was a ship’s captain that brought settlers to Jamestown and stayed. So my mom’s family is all from eastern Virginia/NC. My dad’s grandfather immigrated from Finland with his wife 1890s. My dad’s mom’s family came from England/Ireland via New England then eventually to the great lakes region from Ohio to Wisconsin.
So between my mom and dad, we have people on both sides of the civil war, and every military conflict since the French and Indian War, the only one we didn’t participate in was the Spanish American War.
I have been told but cannot confirm we also had relatives that fought for the British during the revolution, so if true that would be participants on both sides.
I love this stuff.
I heard years ago from my Uncle (my moms brother) that we were Scotland/England/Ireland in that order. He researched this way back before DNA became available.
My test came back Scot/England/Norway/Irish/Sweden/Denmark/Wales. But my DNA includes my fathers side also.
I’m OK with having Viking raiders in my heritage.
Uh huh, so there’s “one in the woodpile” eh? (just a joke for those who would run with it)
3/8 Irish
1/4 Slovak
1/4 Italian
1/8 German
7/8th’s of my ancestors came over in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s.
That 1/8 left? Well, once upon a time waaayyy back they had a land-grant from King George V in what is now Pennsylvania under the name Peace. A Great-great-great Grandfather named Kerr fought on the Union side during the Civil War. That’s it, the majority of my family are Euro-Trash!
