235 years ago, there were some amazing British American citizens who said enough is enough. It boggles my mind that 700 British Regulars headed out of Boston to try to take away the militia’s supplies of gunpowder and end up with somewhere between 14,000 to 20,000 angry men bottling them up back in Boston after taking several beatings all along the path back. Thanks to folks like Paul Revere (he wasn’t the only one) riding out and giving the warning, Americans started on the road to freedom.

If you haven’t read about this remarkable time and the amazing men involved, treat yourself to some inspiring history. I think I’ll find a way to celebrate this day because its special… even if it wasn’t worth mentioning on the national news.

I read “George Washington’s War” by Robert Leckie. I found it to be very informative.

Paul Revere’s Ride by David Hackett Fischer is a great book… also George Washington’s Secret Navy by James Nelson is very good. Almost a Miracle by John Ferling gives interesting insight as to how close we were to not winning and will make you thankful for how George Washington hung in there. Happy reading!

No kidding. I grew up in that area and the only gatherings you’ll see there now are to support “free” health care and more government.

These British army regulars were seasoned vets as well. The most formidable army in the world at the time. Up to that point they had fought and won major battles on most every continent. Truly amazing, I absolutely love American history. These men, these rag-tag band of everyday citizens, should be inspiration to us all, and the ultimate testiment to the American spirit. Not to mention, a reminder of what it truly means to call one’s self an American.
