Handheld light/Pistol techniques

A few quick questions for everyone regarding handleld lights.

What is your preferred/current handheld light and how has it affected your handgun shooting efficiency?

For example, i use an E2d with a KL4 Led head and the fully protected button in my left front pocket of my trousers/shorts (i’m right handed). The protected button and the lamp-up configuration of the pocket clip prevents me from using the rogers technique. But i find that i like that configuration for the light as i use it for many functions throughout my day. What is everyone else’s experience, and what tradeoffs are you comfortable with?

I don’t know if this should be in the Handgun, Flashlight, or Tactics section, but since LOWLIGHT BASICS are in here, this section seems appropriate. Plus i didn’t want to mess

I’ve always preferred the Z2/G2Z lights precisely because they are easier to use with the Rogers technique. They carry well in a pocket or in a dedicated belt holster for the light which is how I carry them the majority of the time.

Personally I avoid the fully protected buttons because they make pressure based activation that much harder, in my opinion.

In short, I tailor the light choices around using them with my handgun. I use the lights for day to day stuff as well and they work just fine for more mundane tasks and they are great for use in conjunction with a handgun.

I was using a modified SF with a tailcap that I make to use the light in candle mode

[ it’s for sale  here ]

but tonight I switched to a SF Aviator A2 with a delrin ring I made to use it in the Rogers style.

I plan on running the light Rogers at IDPA this month which is indoors and low/no light to see how it does verses my normal Harris method and Southnarc method.

My method is to use the Harris/SN method and then switch to Rogers if time & circumstances permit.

My favorite handheld light is the SF Z2/G2Z, for the reasons stated by J_W777.

I use the FBI technique for scanning/searching if necessary, limited jaw index (if I do not have a light that works with the Rogers/SF), but primarily the Rogers/SF for shooting. For my use the Z2 and G2Z are perfect, though I haven’t tried many others in this application since I have not identified any weakness to be overcome.
