I’ve read that some manufacturers use “compression molded” handguards versus “injection molded” ones. Is there really any difference in quality/durability between the two?
I don’t know.
What I DO KNOW is that if I’m running standard handguards on an AR, they’re COLTs. There’s no question about the quality difference compared to say… Bushmaster for example.
As I understand it:
“compression molded” - The stronger and more durable handguards. More likely to be heat resistant.
“injection molded” - Less expensive and not as durable over the long run as compression molded.
Either will probably be o.k. for casual use, but go for the best for serious use.
