I am looking for a holster for H&K usp 9mm full size. I will be wearing this shooting at the range but mostly riding horse back. We do alot of back country camping. I need a secure rig for mounting and unmounting horse and not to concerned if concelled or not. I thought of a thigh rig with some type of locking system. Heard mixed reviews on serpa and trigger finger getting on trigger. Must also stand up to the weather and dirt branches and whatever. Thanks
I just picked up a Galco Combat Master for USP and it is VERY comfortable. I’ve used it at the range a few times and I’m very happy with it. But I doubt that’s what you’re looking for.
I really can’t recommend anything for horse back since the last time I was on a horse I was probably 5 years old. But SafariLand makes an excellent thigh rig with a good locking system. Either that or a comp-tac. They make good products and have excellent customer service.
I can’t really say anything about Serpa. I’ve tried them and I don’t like them. Nothing against them, they just don’t work for me.
Good luck!
Blade-Tech. Have used their products on several HK’s. Held up well through multiple classes and range sessions. Other than marks from usage, the holsters are just as solid as when new.
You could try some of the members here that offer kydex holster’s . A few I have had experience with are raven concealment systems, Peter’s customs and secret city. They are all vary well made and reasonably priced. The only problem might be the wait, but that’s something you will have to deal with for any quality custom product. But They are certainly worth the wait. Good luck with your search.
I personally like the serpa, when used correctly your finger will not go onto the trigger. But, if you are really concerned about it you can get the safariland als holster 6377 or 6378 (one is paddle one is belt attachment).
ALS is a pretty good holster although the belt attachments are a bit flimsy on the concealment models, I prefer their paddle. They ride lower then the serpas though, and that is why I don’t like them for concealment.
Safariland ALS paddle.
It’s what I use when I’m riding my dual sport motorcycle in the back country.
Tough, secure and comfortable for all day use in rough country. The paddle spreads the weight across a larger area and helps absorb some of the bounce a horse or motorcycle gives you.
I believe the 6378’s are shipping with both the paddle and belt attachments in the package now. At least that’s how they were offered from Safariland’s store when I got my last one.
You can’t go wrong with a Safariland 6377/78 models.
Do they have like a paddle iwb with a loop style holster? Sorry I don’t know if there is an actual name for em. I see a lot of guys with iwb kydex ones on here and they look like they would be nice. I have a milt sparks one for my 1911, I don’t know how well it would be for a HK though. I have a raven for my Glock which is nice also but again I don’t know how great it would be with a full sized 9 USP since raven is made to ride higher already. I need a new holster for my full sized 9mm usp so I am interested in seeing what you get.
