Guns & Ammo magazine, Dick Metcalf: "Let's Talk Limits"

Actually, I interpreted it as “Deep down inside all Fudds are basically alike.” Time for the Zumbo treatment.

I read that he is somehow connected to a gun range/training center that will directly be profiting from a 16 hour training requirement.

Is this true?

I could see how someone who was looking to make bank on a training requirement would want training for everything.

The man’s off his meds. What he completely misses is the concept of personal responsibility that accompanies ownership of a potentially deadly tool. First of all, many in our legal system do everything in their power to eliminate the concept of personal responsibility, then the same people want to mandate their concept of responsibility on everyone else. If that isn’t tyranny, I don’t know what is. Mighty condescending of Mr. Metcalf to purport to know what’s appropriate for me and my family. What’s worse is he spoon feeds our enemies with exactly what they need to pursue their agenda. He should be zumbo’d.

The way Zumbo and Tsai got their just desserts is that gun owners petitioned the companies within the industry that advertise and or sponsor said individuals and or their publications. Writing to G&A is one thing but writing to the companies that advertise in their pages is another.

Maybe you old guys need to beat the crap outta Dick with your canes.

He is the President of the PASA range in Barry, IL. It is located on his family farm. PASA has been a long-time host of USPSA Nationals and the Masters International Shooting Championship.

Metcalf isn’t the only G&A staffer to go rogue. Former editor Whit Collins routinely testifies in favor of “Safe Gun/Junk Gun” legislation.

Agreed. No more issues of Guns & Ammo for me! :nono:

I don’t know about everyone else but I glean next to nothing from G&A magazine and their TV program.

The one where the tournament schedule still shows the Masters event for 2008? The same place where you cannot introduce someone new to shooting unless they first become a member? The place that still shows member roll numbers from 13 years ago?

Regardless of the previously hosted functions, that place screams FUDD. Many serious shooters would never attend an event in the PRI. No wonder, when PRI shooting club directors say PRI has “reasonable restrictions”.

Bingo. Well said. Seems like an article written to create traffic to the site and magazine.

I can see this used for quotes from the lowest read anti-gun blog on the web all the way to the latest congressional hearing about how even the most staunch gray haired gun owners think it is reasonable to restrict the thingy that flips up.

Don’t know how many of you have been over on guns and ammo FB page lately but someone posted a response from hornaday excusing their garbage.

I say it’s time for “Fire Mission: Clean House.”

We need to let these worthless skin jobs know once and for all that we will not support them with our dollars unless they support our freedoms unequivocally and without qualifications or limitations .

I stopped buying Rugers when they refused to ship hi-cap mags with their Mini-14’s. I quit Ted Nugent’s website when he came to the defense of Jim Zumbo. Now I will stop supporting G & A and Hornady.

Those wanting more regulations should move to a restrictive state.

Having been in a few gun clubs over the years, I noticed early on that the trap and skeet shooters as a group were sometimes a tad soft(pink)on handgun ownership issues. I observed a positive correlation between shotgun cost and twisted views. Am I guilty of stereotyping?

Someone posted this interesting tidbit on another site I read: http://vuurwapenblog.com/2012/11/07/sporting-purposes-how-hk-really-does-not-suck-or-hate-you/ Apparently the '89 import restrictions and the '94 ban were supported by gun rag writers, hunting guides, and a few other Zumbo type Judases.

I initially reacted like that, embarrassed that an elder gun owner spouted such drivel. But there are plenty of guys who I can’t imagine getting THAT addled from age. Anyone really think Uncle Ted or Larry Vickers will start mouthing off for gun control when they hit their 70s?

If age plays any role it is to peel back some public mask an expose deeper thoughts. It could also be he feels secure enough in his profession that he lets down some of that mask. Anyway, I think this is his real thoughts emerging and illustrates how gun writers can grow distant from their audience, like politicians in DC too long.

Time to exit gun industry spotlight Dick.

Hornady is on my shit list now. Guess I’ll have to find a new .308 bullet. ****ing Fudds.

I am with you, if companies that we support with our money don’t want to stand behind us then screw 'em. Every last one that refuses to pull their ads out of g&a or denounce dick.

There is absolutely no value in subscribing to any gun magazine. The money can be spent on actually buying real firearms and ammo.

I’m thinking this aas something to do with the fact that a lot of these uh mature fudds are butt hurt that the advent on the internet has pretty much killed their publications.
