GunBroker.com ID requirements. WTF?

Gunbroker.com is telling me to register I need to send them a photo of me holding my driver’s license next to my face and then a 2nd form of ID to register for the site. Does everyone have to do this? Id this even legal to ask someone to do this. According to the State of Texas it is illegal for anyone to make a copy of your Drivers License. I know it is done in person, but over the internet, really?

That is why I quit using Gunbroker.
Several years ago I was in the middle of buying a gun and that crap popped up.
I had been using them for years and had over 100 positive feedbacks.

But what really pissed me off is they do not require it for a new person to sign up.

WTF?? I haven’t made any purchases there in a while. I may login later to see if I get any sort of demands.

I hate Gunbroker with a passion. I got permanently banned because I accessed my account using a VPN. This was years ago when VPNs were kind of new on the scene for the average internet browser. When I asked WTF they told me it was the same thing as wearing a mask into a bank. I was and still am dumbfounded. Who doesn’t use a VPN now? I’ve never gone back and tried to clear my account because they are a POS organization. If I’m looking for unique collector pieces I’d rather pay the exorbitant Rock Island fees over giving Gunbroker a dime.

I wouldn’t have a clue how to do this.

Funny, I just bought a gun on GB last Thursday and I didn’t have to upload a photo or ID. That’s why it’s shipped to an FFL I thought?

I used a VPN too.

I had to do something similar a few years back when I reactivated an old account.

I fell out with them years ago when out of the blue they started billing me for some trivial no longer free account crap I didn’t agree to.

I could half understand some of the verification and security measures they take if they would be even a little transparent or consistent about it.
