Tampa had a gun buy back… the news story was of course that they got two rocket launchers.
$75 worth of tickets to a ball game per gun.
At the end of the segment though… the very last thing the news guy says…
They were mostly guns reported stolen.
So now doesn’t that mean that a) the police now need to return them to the legal owner or possibly to the insurance company that may have paid a claim? b) If they were stolen, a background check would not have made a difference. c) If most police departments are under funded, how can they afford to buy these guns only to have them returned to the public?
It seems like Tampa PD is simply paying to send people to ball games.
Idk about you, but if I stole an AR to make money, I’d sell it and make $2k, not $75.
Or if I was concerned about getting caught, sell the upper, furniture from the lower, and lpk via forums and dispose of the lower itself as it’s the only part with a serial #.
Then again, I don’t think gun buy backs get too many ARs.
Mods, feel free to edit my post if it’s against forum rules.
A few folks did go to these gun buy backs in Tampa with the intention of purchasing some of these weapons for themselves. Here is what happened when some of the deputies decided they didn’t like it:
Those ‘rocket launchers’ are no more dangerous than a pvc pipe down at Home Depot. The media is not interested in facts anymore or anything other than promoting the liberal agenda.
If their dumb enough to give them up then to bad for them. My issue is when the general public and probably most of the LE departments actually think they are making a difference. Its all for show.
The Tampa Tribune ran a piece today where they interviewed the owner of a Army Navy store. He pretty much said the same thing as well and called people rubes.
As for Florida being liberal, kinda yes and no. There are elements that are doing their best to make it so, however there are plenty of other areas battling that. Time will tell.
Agreed. It’s the same thing that is happening at the national level. Urban areas are leaning liberal and rural areas remain conservative. Unfortunately in Florida, specifically South Florida, the urban influence continues to grow due to the constant influx of Latin American liberal/socialist immigrants. And before anyone brings up even a whiff of racism, I’m of Cuban decent.
