Guat M193 v. Federal XM193F ... Thoughts?

Back in the day, I bought a quantity of Guat M193. I can’t speak to accuracy or velocity, because I have only used it to shoot clay pigeons at 100 yards and I don’t have a chrono. However, I’ve never had any problems running it in my ARs, and I haven’t missed a clay yet, so I’m happy with it.

Recently, I’ve seen Federal XM193F (headstamp LC 10 with no NATO emblem) for cheap. However, I’ve heard some problems with the primers popping out, especially for lot SMQ10J037-473.

My Guat supply is running low, so I was hoping to restock. If the Federal XM193F isn’t at least as good as the Guat, I plan to keep looking.

Does anyone here have any info to share about the Federal XM193F headstamp LC 10?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I don’t have any experience with Fed’s XM193 within the past 8-10 years. However I can turn you on to IMI’s M193 if you’re interested. Try Wideners if so.

I would rather have the Guat.

Federal XM 193 has worked perfectly for me. Im pretty sure all the stuff I have shot had 09 headstamps.

I have shot more XM193 then anything else! I don’t have any of that Lot 10 your talking about but I have two other Lot 10’s and a Lot 06
Of the two I’ve found the lot 10 to be the most consistant in velocity therefore more accurate! I did a little experiment not so long ago on my first lot 10! It was a bulk box (loose) ! I took ten of the dinged case as I sort them out to shoot first! Broken 6 rounds down, wt the charges resized and trim the cases to 1.760", took the avg gr of the 6 and reloaded them. The target shot with 4 round so marked then shot the 6 reloaded/trimmed rounds! As you can see one can if you wanted to make those 55gr ball rounds perform, if you want to go through the trouble of reloading them! Average Vel was 3165 FPS out of my Colt HBAR 20" Understand the proper case length for 5.56mm is 1.760" not the .223 Rem case length of 1.750" you see in the Manuals! I’ve found the older lots of XM193 adhere to the 1.760" case length better then the newer lots!
