Finger grooves or no finger grooves and why please?
I am going to go out on a limb here and call this one personal preference. If you like standard, stay with that. If you like something different go with that.
I’m gonna have to agree and it’s personal preference, HOWEVER…when I was in school (industrial design), my professors said that finger grooves have been opted as not preferable because everyone’s fingers are different shapes, sizes, and fall differently when gripping an object. So unless they’re designed “perfectly”, finger grooves will not cater to everyone’s body type.

Personally I like the grooves because I have gorilla hands. The Hogue rubber grip feels so good with my shooting gloves on that I almost don’t want to put the carbine down. However, when my petite lady grabs it then it’s less than ideal with her middle finger riding the ridge of the first indent. She likes the A2 grip or the thin Ergo grip.
It’s a good limb to be on, in this case. “Personal preference” sums it up nicely, and anything said to the contrary is window-dressing.
