green horseshoe or green chevron in Trijicon ACOG

Hi Mr. Defoor,

Could you tell me whether you thin the horseshoe or chevron reticle on a Trijicon ACOG is a better mid range (25 to 500 yds) combat reticle. Some of the Trijicon propaganda suggests that the horseshoe is an advance compared to the chevron. I mention the color green because the human eye perceives it as brighter than red. Thanks!

I don’t like any of the above recticles or optics. I’d rather have a red dot with magnifier, or a true 1-4 so that I can be more versatile in range.

I know some of you guys are stuck with it because of the big green, so…

I personally would go with the horseshoe because to me it has more definate “aiming poiints” within itself. Also, if you put duct tape across the fiber optic on top and put a dog ear on it, you can adjust the brightness for the day’s weather. This will also provide a tighter zero and shot group for accuracy because the ring is smaller and will appear as a thin black line.

Red shows up better on a variety of targets…this is why red dots…, are, red dots;)
