If you don’t have Blu-Ray, you live in the stone ages.
Just a head’s up, this Tuesday. Considering the limited theatrical release, my bet is this will sell quite a few copies on DVD/Blu-Ray.

Well I wouldn’t pass it up just because you couldn’t get into the book. The movie was eerie, it had a profound impact on any notion of SHTF grandeur.
The book is much better but I will pick up the Blu-ray as my wife has not seen it. Thanks.
I’ve been counting the days. I’m off Tuesday and the wife will be at work and the boy at school. I’ll be picking it up first thing in the morning.
I havn’t been affected by a book the way I was by “The Road” in quite a while, maybe ever. I didn’t see the movie because I didn’t want my image of it tainted.
Can any of those here that have seen it and read the book vouch for the quality of the flick?
+1 The book and movie are great, but definitely depressing.
The movie doesn’t quite live up to the book. I wasn’t super disappointed, it was still a good flick. It’s just hard to go from a very moving, great book and turn it in to an equally as impressive film. YMMV.
The movie brought me to tears in the theater and had a very disturbing affect on me afterward. While I have not read the book, I can tell you that no other form of entertainment has left me with such a feeling of despair and hopelessness. With that said, it takes something pretty damn prolific to mess with my psyche in the manner of which this movie did. Maybe I’m just sensitive because I have children, but the movie left me with an engrossing sense of hopelessness in the event of a true SHTF.
Then buy me one and replace my entire fucking DVD collection while you’re at it so I can be as cool as you.
I apologize, I didn’t mean to insult those without a Blu-Ray machine. I just realized this year that sooner or later DVD’s will go the way of cassette tapes. So I bit the bullet and invested in one.

If the movie did that to you, read the book. 
I was in Best Buy the other day and saw that Saving Private Ryan has been relseaed on Blu Ray…also:)

now to get my dads old reel to reel stuff of us talking and that when I was a little kid would be cool to hear my voice as a child now that I have kids
I ordered it via Amazon with the same day as release guarantee. Sure enough it arrived the day before before the release date, so I’m going to be offline for awhile and sit back and watch it.
I haven’t seen either movie so I’ll probably Netflix them, on blu-ray of course. I usually won’t buy a movie I haven’t seen. I’m actually looking forward to seeing Book of Eli more than The Road, though, because the previews of The Road looked somewhat depressing.
Yeah, that’s not gonna happen anytime soon. Not until the price of the Blu-Ray movies come down in price. $30-35 is still a bit much considering DVD is still between $12-20. I used to buy 2-3 DVD’s a month before redbox came out. But as far as Blu is concerned, I may buy 1 every other month.
On topic though, I just can’t see that being a good movie. 2 people walking down an empty highway for 2 hours. Sounds a bit dry and boring to me. It’s a little easier for the book to be gripping, since you describe details in text that just can’t be translated onto the big screen.
No need to replace your entire collection. Blu-Ray players will play DVD’s just fine. In fact, they upscale them thru software, making your old and stanky DVD’s look even better! ;)
