'Sent in (2ea.) Form 1’s on 9/17/08 & (2ea.) Form 4’s…
I got the 2 Form 1’s back (M92 Yugo “Krink” U/ F & 7.5" RRA, LAR-15)
on 12/12/08… Total 84 Days (Were stamped on 12/10/08)
That’s a MUCH longer wait than in the past, and MORE
frustrating is the fact that the 2 Form 4’s (YHM .22 MITE & YHM SS
5.56mm QD Phantom) are pending w/ another 3+ weeks likely to
go, according to W.V., ATF, NFA Folks… Ugh…
erh, I’m a virgin on the SBR. Were these your first? I am asking because I want some advice as to if I should send in two forms for approval my first go 'round.
Bret is correct, the only advantages I see are perhaps having them both land on the same inspectors desk; they might come back that way too…
I always register w/ the “Shortest” bbl. length I plan to install and often do multiple uppers…
PS - I got both of my latest form 4’s back yesterday… One for my 'Lil YHM “Mite, .22LR” the other my “Phantom, SS, 5.56mm.”
ALL 4 of the mentioned forms (2 Form 1’s, & 2 Form 4’s) went out the same day; 2 directly to W.V.
and the other 2, via Atlanta then to W.V.
Frankly, I’m surprised that they arrived back HERE so close to one another.
erh, so even though one of the rifles I want to buy is a 14.5", I should put 10.5" because I later plan to buy such an upper for that weapon? Also should are you saying I should go ahead and put other calibers for that rifle (I.E.-6.5, 5.56, 6.8)? This makes sense to me, but I have read that others say that less on the form is better. Your opinions and answers are greatly appreciated.
If you have a 14.5, unless yours is a removable Muzzle Device/ Flash Suppressor, I wouldn’t send in a form…
Many 14.5’s have permanent devices, and ARE legal… If it IS removable, pay a local 'Smith $30.00 to Tack weld it,
or Silver Solder it, unless you WANT it removable… It’s ALLOT less costly than the $200.00 Stamp…
In fact it’ll help allot toward paying toward your 10.5"… 'This is all just IMHO…
I would also choose the SHORTEST you intend to go w/ it and register it “Thus-ly…!”
^Now that’s KISS, I like it. Have you got an approval using “multi” for the caliber before? If so that is very promising.
The weapon I want is a Colt 6921 and it is considered an SBR and I would like to have it as such. That way later down the road when I have some more money I can then add the shorter MK18 (10.5") upper, but still have a decent carbine in the meantime.
I have ONLY when the receiver is MARKED “Multi”… In the case of your Colt…
You will need to register as the caliber that is engraved on the receiver. Not to
worry though… There is NO law that says you can’t use different upper in different calibers. 'Yes, Keep is simple… But be honest…
