Got a new plaything today.

I picked up a fullsize M&P .45 today from the local toy store. My initial impression is that it seems to be a lot better than the catastrophe that was the Sigma line. I think the Sigma kind of soured me on polymer framed pistols for a while. They just felt too top heavy. I did consider a Glock, but as subjective as it is, the “feel” just wasn’t right.

The sights so far seem to be servicable. After I see how the current sight set up works for me, I may just paint over the white dots on the rear sight and replace the front with a single night sight. Reason being it’s the sight picture I’m used to with the 10-8 rear sight and tritium front on the majority of my 1911’s.

Don’t plan on doing any other mods beyond melting some plastic.

My first trip to the range probably won’t be for a couple of weeks. This weekend is taken up with my youngest son’s birthday.

you should get the APEX performance sear. It takes longer to watch the youtube installation video, than to actually install it. The gains are SUBSTANTIAL to put it lightly.

My $.02

I think you should just grab a few snap caps and a ton of ammo and shoot the piss outta it. Practice a lot with the snap caps as well. I recently picked one of these up and after about 300 dry fires with the snap cap and about 250 rounds the trigger has smoothed out quite a bit. The reset also seems a bit better now. It seems like it gets better daily and from what I have heard once you get into the 500 range you are pretty much set.

I think you will enjoy it, I know mine has been a blast so far!

My midsize .45(made in '08) had about 1000rnds on it when I started putting Apex parts in, one or two at a time, I ended up with the whole DCAEK kit installed, Anyway, while the stock trigger was OK, The Apex DCAEK is still a lightyear ahead of a stock trigger. The flip side of this is, from what I understand, S&W has recently changed sears, pretty much copying Apex’s sear, and so the triggers are now supposed to be much better,I don’t know if they (S&W) also copied the USB as well, That part alone, can really change the trigger pull by eliminating the “crunchy” part of the trigger pull. They(the sears) are however, MIM, Apex’s sears are tool steel, and higher quality, I myself prefer the Apex parts… I’m waiting for their tool steel striker to come out…
