Nothing about the 2nd Amendment, unless you factor in the “Will require that every bill have a citation of constitutional authority” promise. I’m sort of disappointed by that.
Otherwise, it’s a good start.
Even the folks at redstate.com are underwhelmed by this latest dog’s breakfast served up by the GOP congressional leadership, referring to the latest “Pledge to America” as “total dreck” and a “pledge to nowhere.”

The GOP establishment is moribund and the Tea Party movement has devolved into some unholy alliance between Ayn Randian libertarians and evangelical theocrats, all financed by the Koch brothers and their corporatist cronies.
What a blivet! (and for those of you too young to remember, a blivet is ten pounds of shit in a five pound bag).
And yet they’re still better than the Democrats. That’s saying something.
Correct me if this is an unfair assumption, but I’m guessing that you would consider the substance of the link that I’ve left in the quote above (disregarding the non-specific criticism of the “Pledge to America”) to be equally as blivetous as the “Pledge to America” itself?
6 in one hand half a dozen in the other.
Let us hope that if the Republicans do win in November they don’t screw us with “compromise” and “bipartisan initiatives”. I want them to wield the political hammer just as viciously as the Dems have since '07.
Why should the GOP be trusted?
They had their chance, and they spent like coke whores, and coddled RINOS.
Their only claim to fame is the Dems are worse.
Do you actually believe the leftist media on this?
Some elements of the so-called Tea Party get some funding from the Koch brothers, who sound like pretty decent fellows who have similar beliefs in freedom from what little I have read. But there are many many parts of the so-called Tea Party which fund themselves. There is no central Tea Party. There seem to be several competing groups as well as independents.
Yep and the Tea party are a bunch of racists.
Funny story about that.
Friend of mine up north in the state is the leader of a fairly large tea party group there. He got a call from the local News media wanting to know about racism in the movement, why they hated blacks. After he finished laughing he promised to send them a response as long as they promised to print it along with the enclosed photo of him and a few of the member.
He is the blackest man I have ever met in my life and 3 of the other 8 people in the photo were also minorities of some sort or another. All are prominent within the group. If the local media had bothered to even check out the group they would have known this. Instead they just went off what the national media is saying.
While amusing, chances are the media won’t publish the story at all, as it doesn’t fit their political agenda…
This should not be a surprise to anyone since the RNC is headed up by someone who is a declared anti-Second Amendment slug. Steele has publicly declared on many occasions that he does favor the permanent implementation of the Klinton Assault Weapons Ban. :nono:
IMHO, the RNC needs to clean their own house with morons like him before they can expect people to trust them to clean the two houses on the hill.
^^^^This is so right on the money ^^^^
In fact I would say a good cleaning of every political “house” is in order if we are to get back on track in this country. From the bottom all the way to the top.
Tea Peartiers are all sorts of people, not one specific group; the media is just man made weather being shit into our ears.
Yes the RNC needs to have house cleaned. Steele needs to go. I have heard suggested that Palin would be a good choice. Since she is probably not a good candidate, this would allow her to use her skills to do fund raising and to push the direction of the party away from the current morass.
And the Senate leadership needs to immediately strip Sen Murkowski, or whatever her name is up in Alaska, from all committee assignments etc. (Unfortunately this is not my idea – It was on the National Review website that someone linked in another thread)
While I’m relatively certain you will denigrate The New Yorker and author Jane Mayer as “the leftist media” (which apparently includes everything not owned by Rupert Murdoch and News Corp.), I’ll invite you to point out the factual inaccuracies contained within the article linked below.

Yep, the Koch brothers are the true heart and soul of America, fighting the good fight for the workin’ stiff. My favorite quote in their rags-to-riches story of the American dream:
“You might ask: How does David Koch happen to have the wealth to be so generous? Well, let me tell you a story. It all started when I was a little boy. One day, my father gave me an apple. I soon sold it for five dollars and bought two apples and sold them for ten. Then I bought four apples and sold them for twenty. Well, this went on day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, until my father died and left me three hundred million dollars!”

Pretty much. We’ll see how serious they are by who they run against Obammy in 2012.
I haven’t talked to him since he called me telling me this actually. So I am not sure if they did or not. I should call him and ask.
I will go read that. The stuff I had read was WashPost and NYT.
But it sounds like they made it work for them, from what you said. That is freedom. I don’t want them fighting the fight for the working stiff. That leads to Unions and statist policies. I want them to fight the fight for freedom in America including the freedom to be rich. Where people have the opportunity to work hard and get rich. Not for the govt to save the working stiff.
If these guys believe in freedom and are willing to put their money where their mouths are, more power to them. That is America.
But still, the Tea Party is a ton of people, various groups, etc and is not some monolith financed by these guys.
The left side is probably a lot more regimented and financed by Soros and his kind but even there you could not make a blanket statement about it.
The tea party movement is not a linear movement; it encompasses many ideals, many ways of achieving goals, and is spread out over the entire US; I know many tea Partiers and none fo them take moeny from anyone but group members; not corporations or groups; but individuals, and they all get a say in how the money is spent; they organize and move.
Whatever these news outlets are trying to push is crap. The Koch brothers may be involved in a piece of the tea party movement, but they do not reign as supreme leaders of the movement.
Say what you will, but the tea party is made up of a very elclectic cross section of our citizens, including racists (Were all racists in some way really, xenophobes too; just get over it and admit it to yourself) libertarians, liberals, conservatives, democrats, republicans, green partiers, not (1) tea partier I have met has been politically like minded as another, they are all just fed up and tired with this govt. and it’s slow errosion and encroachment of our freedoms/soverignty; and want to empower themselves and do something about it. More power to them.
Let freedom ring mother fuckers!!!
Yes, what he said.
