Google Search Tool is now active!

Now that the Google search tool is active, would it be a good idea to remove or disable the original V-Bulletin search feature? I don’t know if this would even be possible.

The reason I ask is because I see new members start threads all the time where they state they searched for something and got no results. They then get told to use the orange search button at the top and their thread is often locked. I know older members should know to use the orange one, but new members wouldn’t know one search feature from the other unless they find this thread, which most of them don’t. Anyway it just seems that it would eliminate some confusion if there was only one search feature.

I still use the VB search and DO find it of value (in some instances).

It was just an idea. Honestly the majority of times I try to use it it doesn’t work at all for me, especially when I try to use it to search within a specific thread.

So far, the only “Search” function I’m able to perform with relative success, is the orange button one on top. The other “Search” function doesn’t work and I still, get logged off when using the primary one. I’m sure it something-a-majig glitch on my laptop. That’s all.

Any time I try to use the other search function I get a screen saying the page can not be displayed. If I refresh the page I get a message saying I have to wait 30 seconds between searches. After 30 seconds goes by and I refresh the page again, I’m right back where I started with a screen saying the page can not be displayed. Repeat ad infinitum. I figured if it wasn’t working for me then it wasn’t working for anyone. That’s why I suggested removing it. This happens on my iMac at home, my Windows laptop, and two Windows PC’s I use at work. This is what led me to believe it was a site problem and not my individual computer. If it is a site glitch maybe someone could look into it.

UPDATE: I used the V-Bulletin search funciton to search within a specific forum successfully this evening, so maybe it’s working properly now…? I hope so.
