Good place to get a gas tube roll pin?

During a recent multi-day epic to install a Troy Extreme FF rail on a BCM 14.5" upper with a permed FH (yeah, I know – lessons learned, moving on), of course I lost my gas tube roll pin.

Once my upper is back from the local machinist who is pinning and welding the FH back on, I’d sure like to use the upper. However, neither BCM nor G & R seem to offer the gas tube roll pin on their sites. A Google search reveals a variety of DPMS, High Standard, Del-Ton, generics, and other marques that do not inspire confidence.

I’m not thrilled about paying ~$12 S&H for a $1 part, but hey, I’m the bonehead who dumped the pin. Yeah, I know it’s “just a pin”, but I’d hate to buy an out-of-spec/QA FAIL specimen. As long as I’m buying a new pin, I might as well get a known good one.

But where?

Any leads greatly appreciated.

Brownell’s–but I think they’re DPMS’. Just installed one the other day when changing a barrel. Definitely needed the roll pin starter to get it in; didn’t seem like it was going to come out anytime soon when I finished.

Citizens armory…cheapest in the country for small parts that won’t rape you for shipping. Good quality, fast shipping.

I don’t think a lot of thought need to go into a gas roll pin. Shit… we’ve improvised with a hardware store pin that we had to cut down in a pinch.

Put some oil on it and use needle nose pliers or similar to hold it and get it started. Have a buddy help.

PM me your address, I’ll mail you one. I have a spare.

PM sent. That’s very kind of you, thank you very much!

try a gun show. there’s usually a dealer there with a bunch of AR small parts. your local gun store might also have some.

Thanks. The next gun show isn’t until 29 May, and I didn’t want to wait that long to shoot my new upper. Also, my LGS is friendly enough, but extremely small and limited.

Also, welcome to M4C!

No problem, glad to help out.

I have to agree I just got 3 gas tube roll pins and an ejection port cover spring and it cost less then $5 shipped to my house.

these usually come in a pack of 100 since theyre so small and high usage items. Check out Brownells.

Did you read the post where I already mailed him a roll pin?
