Good, modern replacements for R60/P60 heads?

I have a lot of lights ranging from pre Surefire direct M9 Mount, 15 year old Surefire, ten year old nitrolon, etc.

I have also been replacing batteries with rechargeable.

As often as not, these kill the incandescent bulb.

When I order new LED heads, to replace the R or P60 Surefire size,
I keep keeping “direct replacement” or exact fit items like this:

Which are too long.

Is there an easy button for ordering these and getting the size I need?

Both.

I am upgrading both my M9 Laser Technolgies direct mounts, (like you see in the bottom middle), the later after they became Surefire TG Mount versions like you see in one of the top row guns,

These nitrolon are like $50 lights. Not sure if I want to spend forty plus bucks each replacing the lamp in ten or so of them.

It basically seems despite what they are advertised for, nitecore and some of these lithium rechargeable batteries are just too strong for the older incandescent.

Running a full powered LED module in a completely Nitrolon bodied light doesn’t allow anywhere for the heat generated to go. It’s recommended to use an M61L (or LL if it generates enough output for the task). If it’s got an aluminum head, then the full powered M61 can be used, since the head will transfer the heat to the air.

The problem with your incan lamps is that two Li-Ion cells in series are delivering 8.4 volts (without considering sag) to a lamp that’s designed to operate from 6.4 volts (without sag). You can run one Li-Ion with them, but then you’re under driving the filament, which while not catastrophic to it, isn’t ideal. If you want to run two Li-Ion cells with an incan lamp, you should use a P90 or P91 lamp.

Another recommendation for Malkoff. Gene is the man when it comes to LED’s.

I have 7 Malkoff devices. Haven’t had any fail yet.

Have found a way to destroy or burn out or break around a dozen SF heads over the years.

Same usage, usually mounted on ARs using VTAC mount(which is okay at best). I generally don’t run rechargeable batts.

It’s not that I want to run incans.
It’s that I want to switch over to rechargeable batteries.

I went to nitrolon and VTAC mounts about a dozen years ago because-

In real left they are a huge weight and size saver over the issue Surefire, even if you dropped the center body and ran one battery instead of two.

So, right now I don’t understand why the direct replacement led heads are so much longer than originals.

I replaced the incandescent assembly in my 6z with a Malkoff from Brownell’s years ago.

Vastly longer run time on CR123 batteries and much brighter. The only drawback was during requal, if I fired it up shooting with the mere mortals no one else on the line needed to use their WML at 15 or 25 yards.

Another nod to Malkoff devices, I have a few legacy SF lights (a 6p, a G2 and a Z2) with Malkoff upgrades.
