I’m new to precision rifle shooting and have only shot my new PR twice before. It was a beautiful day here in St. Louis yesterday, I mean, ridiculously so. Low humidy, around 50 degrees, low wind, perfect conditions. I’ve been curious to know how my rifle would handle Prvi Partizan Ammunition 308 Winchester 145 Grain Full Metal Jacket ammo. I’ve only used Federal Match with 175 grain Sierra King bullets before (It is what the scope is zeroed for). After a few rounds getting the rifle, and shooter, warmed up. I really did my best to get a good ten shot group. I had to hold a bit high with the stop, just a tiny bit actually at 100 yards, but I was really pleased with my best group of the day. Shooting from the bench, from bipod and rear bag. Here are the results.

If yu shot that group with Privi, you did darn well. Its fun to try crap ammo and see what it will do. Ive had some that held a couple inches and other that was literally 8 inch groups, which I didn’t think possible. Good stuff for a 10 shot group. Well done.
The British have a long tradition of shooting surplused 7.62 through rifles specifically tuned to shoot crap well (since at many of their national matches everyone must shoot issued ammo).
You have the advantage of shooting a weapon tuned for best performance. It makes average ammo look good!
That said, the most critical part of the whole shooting system is the nut behind the butt. Great job – looks like it was both fun and satisfying.
I am a member of the Arnold Rifle and Pistol Club, and also do a lot of shooting out at Asymmetric Solutions in Farmington, Missouri.
The ARPC only has rifle ranges out to 100 yards, Asymmetric has a range that allows you to get out to 750 and will soon have one that allows shots out to a mile.
Benchrest in Wright City, MO has a range that allows you get out to 600 yards at present, and they are going to extend to 800, I hear.
Ive shot at Benchrest, but not on the 600 because you have to take a class to shoot 300 and then another to shoot at 600. Im not a member, I cant take the class. Sorry its not that hard with a ballistic computer to put rounds down range to 600 yards and not miss.
Ive not been to ARPC or Assymetric.
Let me know if you go to sling lead at Assymetric, I wouldnt mind going down there and doing some longer range shooting.
Ill take you up to the farm when it warms up and well shoot steel at 500(maybe 600+ if I get my ass in gear and cut some trees down).
