Good birthday long range session

I told my wife that for my birthday this year I wanted a steel target. I found a guy locally who builds AR500 targets and stands and he made me a 2/3 size IPSC target with a stand for a very reasonable price.

Well this morning was my first chance to try out my newly finished Rem 700 SPS V with B&C stock and Vortex Viper PST 6-24 Mil scope.

We set the target up in a small draw and from our hilltop was 504 yards measured by GPS. Ammunition was some handloads of mine using 178 grn AMAX and 42 grains of Hodgon Benchmark (only powder I had).

All in all a very good birthday morning.

awesome place to shoot. that’s my favorite kind of shooting. just laying around plinking at distant steel.

oh, and happy birthday!

D@mn that looks awesome! Happy birthday to you!

Happy birthday, and GREAT shooting!

+1!

Great way to spend the b-day!

Happy birthday and great shooting.

I recently found a place like that near my house. It’s great to just set up some steel and get some good practice in.

Thanks guys. We had a lot of fun. Next week I’m going to try to shoot for groups at long range. Yesterday was us just messing around. Only time we misse was trying for a headshot which evaded us all morning.

I got in on a JC Steel Target group buy ovrr on the Hide about 3 months ago and looks like I’ll be banging some new steel here in about ten days when I get home.

Nothing beats a reactive target.

Thats a nice Bday morning. Enjoy.
