I am ordering a new upper for my M16 as a Christmas gift to myself for working my butt off this year. I need some advice on how to kit it out.
This is going to be run full auto. I have a later model AAC 416 suppressor and FS I am going to put on it. Other than that I need advice.
I will probably put a rail system on it. However I don’t run a VFG or anything like that. I will just run an X300 out on the side or maybe at 12 O’clock.
Help me pick it out. I am only looking for DI guns–if I don’t get a DI I know I will pick up another 10.5 416.
I want advice on everything. What is the best setup for hard use (ie Suppressed and full auto).
I’ve run almost 2,000 rounds through my 11.5" in the last 3 weeks, mostly full auto. Not a single feeding problem, and I’ve used 7 different kinds of ammo. I have a 2nd upper configured the same that I plan to run suppressed with a Gemtech HALO once the BC 2.0 comes out.
Fail Zero M4 Upper
Fail Zero Charging Handle with PRI Flat Latch
LMT Enhanced Bolt Carrier (Maybe send it in to Robar for NP3 coating)
LMT Enhanced Bolt
Centurion Arms 11.5’’ Barrel (Or BCM, and try to get one with a small gas port. .060’'?)
KAC QDSS-NT4 + Triple Tap (Or SureFire 212, and Muzzle Brake)
KAC Micro 200-600m Rear BUIS
KAC M4 BUIS
KAC URX II Mid
KAC Mk .12 Gas Block, or Shaved down front sight tower.
Aimpoint M3 in super low profile mount, or Mini-ACOG (Green)
Surefire Flashlight in Gear Sector or KAC mount.
AN/PEQ-15, or Laser Devices OTAL-A.
I was thinking about the Noveske 10.5 with switchblock. It seems like a pretty good setup. Very suppressor friendly and heavy duty chrome lining. Do you think this gains me anything over a std BCM 11.5 inch setup?
BCM, DD, or Centurion 11.5"
DD 10.0 Lite or Mk18RIS2. If you want a slick rail, the VTAC TRX Extreme.
LMT Enhanced Carrier is worth a look
BCM Gunfighter Mod4 with RTV job, and drilled gas escape hole
Aimpoint T1 on LT/ADM/DD/KAC mount.
Whichever rear BUIS you prefer.
If you’re happy with a fixed front sight, I’d look at a DD Fixed front directly behind the X300.
If you can snag a barrel without a gas port drilled, that would probably be ideal. Send it to ADCO, have them handle that, and you should be able to run it with reduced volume in a dedicated suppressed setup.
I have an N4 switchblock recce. The switchblock is nice - helps me not get gassed when I’m canned.
I realize you were referring to the N4 series, but I also have a Noveske w/ SS barrel - purchased before N4’s debut (like that was the only “Noveske” in those days). The stainless barrels feature polygonal rifling and chronograph testing revealed that these barrels frequently produce velocities more comparable to a std rifled bbl 2" longer (IIRC they were using LMT uppers as a comparison). Its not a large consideration, but MV is a often considered a downside to SBRs.
I would personally like to get a 12.5" Crusader w/ switchblock.
