Well I finally did it, going to have my 308 built. Well I have the lower all figured out now I have to figure the upper. Going with 14.5 barrel with ops core break, JP 13" forearm, Troy lo pro gas, AR-10 upper receiver, BCM gas buster and no sites. Going to run a scope.
So any recomendations regarding upper componets. Pros and cons on my choices. Any help would be appreciated.
Check to see what kind of ballistics you can expect from the 308 in a 14.5 inch barrel. Usually, velocities have fallen off to the point one might as well use a 7.62x39 or a 300 Blackout.
Muzzle blast and concussion of the 308 will be noticeably louder and sharper with a 14.5 inch barrel. I find the muzzle blast of the 308 to start getting uncomfortable with a 16 inch barrel but the fireball is very impressive!.
The 308 does have the advantage that it’s easier to get ammo than the 300 BLK and probably easier to get running reliably in an AR than the 7.62x39. The 14.5 inch barrel will be handier, but an 18" barrel will be more practical for the 308.
