I have three AR’s already and the parts to make another (minus bbl and forgrip system). So the AR is out the window…
I want an AK for the safe and a few times to the range, a local has some romanian and czech ones on the used shelf with mags…or I FINALLY want to get a .308. I was wanting a SA M1A, but I am leaning more towards a Bolt Action…Nothing to fancy, maybe a Savage 10 or similar. Just something to throw a harris on, scope and shoot bulk 308 ammo out of.
But now as I type this…I am thinking…20" 308 AR…
One good thing about the 308 bolt action, it will be cheaper to shoot than a semi. My friends seem to think that simply because my AR 10 has 20 round magazines, they need to load the magazine all the way and then shoot the entire thing, not paying attention if the ammo is SA surplus or Black Hills.
Savage has made 2 of the most out of box blasters I have seen in the past few years. You can pick one of them up, and a pretty good scope for less than a AR by its lonesome.
Take a nice 7.62 bolt gun. Remington LTR is a great starting point. Bolt actions are very relaxing to shoot at a range session if you are used to going through one 30rd mag after another with your AR.
WARNING: If you like to improve and accessorize, bolt actions are not for the meek. If you thought ARs are spendy, bolt actions will shock you. But it isn’t necessary to go crazy on every rifle you own. Some of us just lack that willpower.
Oh, and Marc, very subtle. No one knows where you stand.
