Can I safely shoot a glock with the slide lock flopping around?
I thought the little leaf spring was broken at first. But it appears to be sticking in the groove when I depress the slide lock…
I put a drop of oil in there and pushed the spring up and down in its groove. Tiny polymer shavings came out.
Nevermind, I spent a few more minutes pushing the spring up and down and it now moves freely after shaving off more plastic.
Range trip with the new glock 26 is back on schedule!
Did you detail strip the gun? If so, check the slide stop spring placement and make sure that it’s tucked under the top locking block pin.
I believe he was referring to the slide lock spring, not the slide stop lever and spring. I’ve done that with the slide stop lever and spring before.
I’d recommend replacing the spring and the lock.
Are there any links you recommend for full disassembly instructions?
Ill take it to the range monday since the spring seems to work for now. Hopefully the slide won’t fly off!
I will order a new spring and lock plus some grip plugs to make the shipping worth while.
Thanks!

Just so its clear, the answer to this is NO.
If you are not fully confident that you have it squared away take gotm4’s advice and replace it.
So I shot 250 rounds of blazer through it today. Everything’s working fine and the little glock seems to be pretty accurate!
Gonna toss the blocky plastic sights though…
